Thread: Opinions of rear air in D4

I made a phone call to Sniegy...

It went something like this:

"G'day Pete, I want a D4, Leather, eDiff, Rear Air, Xenons.... What have you got?"

Conversation ended with "I'll take it... Please get it tinted, chuck in some floor mats and throw on some mud flaps, be there Friday "

And the rest as they say is history...

I'm happy to always return to MLR after such exceptional service from Sniegy and his work mates...

I have a D3 with both. Rear air is for the dogs. The e-diff is much in demand in 2nd hand vehicles, and it is such a cheap option.

A lot of people think that the rear air option is mainly for the 3rd row passengers, whereas I find it to be a must for the 2nd row passengers. They have their own controls and settings, as there is a second air conditioning unit.
The driver also has the option to control the rear air from the front.
Would not do without it.

Hi Graig, our D4 has rear air, people in the second row seats don't seem to be able to operate/adjust it from the controls in the back, is there a trick too it.

To answer the OP, rear air cools the car down faster, it great on really hot days.

Hi Baz,
There is a button with 'R AUTO' on it to the bottom left of the centre 'AUTO AC' dial / button. Once this button is pressed, if the bottom light is on, the rear passengers have control and when the top light is showing, the front passengers have control.
I'm pretty sure that is how it works. It is in the handbook if you want to check.

Push the rear air button a second time (in the front). You will see the light indicating the rear air is on - go off and a second light come on just slightly lower down (but almost in the same place). You can then control from the rear.

The first light/position is 'auto' and rear air operates automatically with the temp set/controlled by the driver and front passenger.

The second place as described. Rear passenger Can control from the rear air and the driver and front passenger have their own control.
