    Steve,

The Tigerz wireless remote is notoriously bad based on the feedback I read, however most reviews are very positive for the winch overall.

The Grande is their better winch so I assume yours was the Hercules or something like that which is, I believe the older model.

Spoke with OL yesterday about winches in their bar and they mentioned the Warn sub brand which is simply the older models now superseded and called a different name. Sounded interesting but still over $1,000.

If able the 4wd show at eastern creek might be worth a visit as OL and ARB both said there would be deals on offer for the show this weekend.

    George

    Hi George,

yes correct got the Hercules, problem is they have non of the Tigerz11 winches in stock. The remote seems to work at least the green light is flickering think I have a look tomorrow at Easters Creek and see whether I can pick up a bargain there.

Will use the chance and place the solenoid under the bonnet instead of bull bar.

    cheers

    Steve

Did Davis Performance have a look at all when it did not work? I would have taken mine back to the installer. They would have told you exactly what the problem was and fixed it on the spot even if warranty parts were needed? getting grumpy with Tigerz before finding exactly the source of the problem sounds a little harsh? Tigerz might be the problem of course.

Asked a mate about his 8000lbs warne. He has to use a snatch block on his patrol. If you can go above 9500lbs up you might be safer and quicker. Ran my Tigerz 12000lbs up a 35 degree steep slope with my 3 tonnes at the bottom today. It is working well. Dopey me installed it The Muddies i use in the bush have stoped me needed the winch in the bush to date
The Tigerz Grande offer sounds a generous compromise from them. The plug in wireless dongle is one a pain and two a very good idea. My Aldi one had the wireless inside the cotrol box. I could use my remote to run someone elses winch with them miles away and thier car locked. Not really ideal security so the Tigerz remote gets at least one tick as does the simple and effective isolator ( I broke mine DOH)

My remote was working to 75m today. No probems as long as the remote and plug in dongle is cared for. Moving the control box into the engine bay might be ok but it is cramped if you have two batteries and have or want onboard air like me.

    @ weakestlink

nop did not return to DP as they only installed but not provide the winch but in hindsight may have been an alternative.

Not to grumpy with tigerz and the service in regards to upgrade or refund is definitely good customer service they just don't have them in stock.

especially with the hercules the box is not water proved at all so not sure how good it would be to get solenoid under water during a crossing hence I thought about under bonnet. Would have space in front of battery but that also means no air under bonnet
which before the winch was the plan.

VRS is the second brand from Warn. I don't have personal experience but they are Australian made and you can get one including Synth rope for just over $1k

The upgraded model offered seems to have a water proof control box. Not that I would like to try starting a pull under water unless I had the wired control alread pluged in!
My tigerz was under water for a good while on Saturday. It worked well today. I was thinking about a wired control in the car but the wired and remote work so well from the drivers seat ( aldi type) that I thought the extra effort not worth it for the new tigerz11.

Incase your wondering I broke the other 'cheap' winch taking 5 tonnes or more of downed tree of a track. It failed to pull an obscenely big tree off, rather than using a strap or better still a snatch block I used the winch as a snath strap while towing the huge tree off the track. Hurrying can be such a destructive thing to do. It was about the tenth chain saw effort that day so I will excuse my error. about 5km later [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SvPRQL1Pb3w"]Discovery 3 - Goulburn river crossing fail with fun - YouTube[/ame] whoops
Do you do 3d design work?

Actually I stand corrected, it is Australian designed by Ateco the company that imports Warn in Australia and is pretty much a copy of the Warn. It is made in China though.

    They are Chinese made...

They were "designed" in Australia... Eg... They (Chinese factory) were told what tolerance and spec to make them.....
