I don't believe you would be unhappy with either the 2.7 or the 3.0, both are great engines that power a 2.5 ton vehicle very well. You need to decide what kind of use your D4 will mainly be used for then decide which one suits your needs best.

Personally I'm happy with our 2.7 even though we tow a 2.5 ton van often, yes the 3 litre is very nice to drive and has heaps of power to burn but power isn't always everything when deciding what vehicle to buy.

    cheers,
    Terry

It's interesting to consider the supercharged petrol Range Rovers. Now those are quick, blowing the 3.0 into the weeds.

Still doesn't get you there appreciably quicker though, but it's fun!

Nobody mentioned that you can now buy 18 inch rims for the 3.0l D4 if you want a greater choice of rubber!

Oh i suppose I may as well join in! I came from a TDV8 Sport to 2.7 D4 and don't miss the power as much as that V8 diesel grumble!
A 3 litre would have been good but at the time was another 10 grand. Also I had set of OME 17s with BFG KM2s left over from my D3. Would have been a
    pity to waste them!
Either way the D4 will still put a smile on ya face.

Sorry but I thought that the main point of difference between the 2.7 and the 3.0l versions apart from power is the choice of tires - as pointed out in a number of posts in this thread.

That's true, and that has been discussed elsewhere so no point recyling the same discussion.

Especially after the ESF message appears!

Just noticed, LR no longer publish interior noise levels. When I bought the D3, the 2.7L diesel specs showed it was quieter than either petrol variant.
