I've tried to find 4x4de (was 4x4 intelligence) but I think it's finished. Had to go for Dolium (Front Runner) instead.

    D3 Spare Wheel Winch woes!

Baffled!! Anyone know how this annoying piece of scrap actually works? I stripped mine down after the cable jammed, fixed the cable, assembled the unit, tried it in a vice with weight on and it worked okay. Fitted to car, tried with wheel. NO GOOD! Removed unit again, stripped it, cleaned grease out as I thought it was slipping. Worked well in vice with weight on. But on the car with a wheel. NO! Had about a 6 inches gap to unhook wheel from hook. I thought maybe to centre shaft is slipping and shouldnt be so I drilled and pinned the plastic wheel to the shaft. That didnt work, nothing turned. Havent given up yet. I'm in the process of maufacturing a carrier to replace the OEM one. I'll keep everyone posted.
