I'd love to do it Mike. Justifying it to SWMBO is a different matter.

In rough numbers, I reckon I could get $17k for my D3, against a $60k MY14 D4. That means $43k to upgrade.

If I swap out my engine and gearbox, interior and other bits, I could probably get $12k for them.
A crate 3.0 long engine is $12k, gearbox $7k. So that means I would have to spend less than $36k on turbos, interior, wiring, ECUs and brakes to come out ahead

Hmmm.......I've just found a 1 year old 8 speed box for $1500 delivered.

Anyone got a spare $40k and want to be guinea pig?
