When I added all my accessories I had them all listed and added to the insurance. Cost an extra $100.

Be carefull if you lease as the insurance policy they try to get you to take (you can get your own) will probably exclude off road (even farm) and pay only the lease pay out figure.
I am with GIO and have been good to me, more exe but you pay for what you get.

Interesting, I have several vehicles with Allianz & have rung a couple of times to clarify coverage. Generally I have been happy with the verbal responses for subjects like 'off road', 'private property' & 'accessory or modification'.
Wonder how well the 'your call may be recorded' works

Golden rule I guess if isn't black & white in writing it might not be covered.

Are you sure that your covered (Insurance).

I am with Shannon's and when a car t boned the 110 the other year Shannon's replaced the side steps and long range fuel tank. No questions asked.

Very happy with their service, and would recommend them.

A lot of insurance issues here come down to WHERE you are covered. Many stop covering you as soon as you venture of gazetted roads. Other won't cover on beaches even where the are gazetted roads... etc

I've looked into a lot of companies and in my opinion (do your own research YMMV) the best I've come across are Suncorp and Shannons.

TCIS Insurance was reportedly good too (but not cheap) but I have no direct experience of that .

On insurance generally the whole "bundle up to save some money" is a load of old rot. You won't save any money if a claim is knocked back eh.

Because at the time they were the best available cost/cover I have Contents with Suncorp, Defender with Shannons, Honda motorbike (laid up cover) with Shannons, Suzuki motorbike with QGE.

    Pays to do your homework.
If the Police can issue a speeding ticket and arrest you for drink driving on a particular 'road', your insurance company doesn't have a hope in hell of not covering an insurance claim.....regardless of the sand beneath the wheels......if you are within the law of course. If it's 'Gazetted', it's a road.........(straight from a Lawyer that I know).

    Don't listen to their BS!

If in that situation, push it hard....

    Cheers,

    Kev.

Police can give you a ticket or arrest you for drunk driving etc even on private property, especially, if there is some sort of public gathering taking place. At least that is the case in NSW anyway.

So I wouldn't rely 100% on where you can be giving a ticket as criteria for where your insurance covers you Kev.

Same here, but they are good. Easy and clear policy, both with the cars and the house. Had a claim in the past and as it was only a third party claim - our old Commodore Vs a brand new Commodore, they didn't even want to look at our vehicle to make sure it was road worthy, etc. They took the excess from us and paid for the $8,000 repair to the other car without question.

I went to Commwreck and spent $300 on parts to fix ours...
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

However they do cover accessories (what is a modification vs an accessory I am not sure) - I have everything added to my vehicle listed and have an appropriate "Agreed Value" - I would never trust an insurance company to do a full payout on Market Value - you will always get the lower end of the scale.
