TDV6 after last trip back from up north after 800km.

Best of all for my friends who own Toyos with D4Ds is how their cars sound like a milk truck and the Disco is silent by comparison.

I did the trip around Steep Point last year with my mate in his L322 RR with the 3.0 litre BMW diesel. That is even worse for noise. It is deafening to listen to it drive by and has less power by a fair margin. We both took filled up before leaving Denham and took an additional 20 litre jerry can. We drove in each other's tracks for 2 days. I refilled the TDV6 for 35 litres while he took nearly 55 litres to refill.

I am also impressed by how well it overtakes from 110-130 and I have seen it push easily to 150kmh after passing a long row of caravans.

Everyone says chip it, just like everyone says change the base stereo but I find both to be very good just out of the box!

    Magic piece of kit.

    Thx Everyone.

I went with the TDV6. Felt the price was ok although feel a bit robbed in the trade-in value. Must say overall positive experience although I feel slightly violated after negotiating price with a tag team of sales reps.

What was funny is when I originally asked the sales guy to put me in a Diesel after driving the V6 I commented on the responsiveness of the "Diesel". He was praising the new Diesel engines. When we got out I had to point out that he had in fact put me in another V6.

You won't regret it the TDV6 is a excellent engine and makes the D3 a pleasure to drive.

    Congrats on the new purchase.
    Cheers,
    Terry

Congratulations on your purchase! I'm looking at a similar purchase in the next 6 months, and I want to get the hse disco 3 tdv6, well I want the disco 4 but my finances won't allow that sort of a purchase unless D4's drop drastically by that time lol then I'm going to weekend warrior my d2 v8

oh they love to play that tag team game. I refuse to play. ?My standard response is if you can't make a price decision then get me somebody in here NOW who can or I am walking out. The sales manager will very quickly appear.

    I recently purchased a D3 TDV6 and so far I love it. I am getting about 12.1 L/100km.

    V8 is the Go IMHO.

I read this forum for months before buying a V8HSE from the 4 sale on the forum (off Stevo - via his brother).
I have not been dissappointed ... quite the opposite (but I haven't been appointed). The D3 is a great car ... the V8 is a very smooth engine and thuogh thirstier than the TDV6 there are other things to consider..
Things I sought and confirmed my decision were the costs of the diesel longer term.
I believe it would be different if you were bying new car but in the second hand market there are maintenance issues to be considered. Its not just about Fuel consumption $/per mile.
You have to consider costs of items like the Timing belt (substancial cost = which is a lot of fuel when considering the differnce in mpg) against not needed in the V8 but perhaps is needed in the ford V6 petrol .Also the diesel pump and the fact that there seemed to be a number of diesels that have had rebuild before their time .. especially when you consider that they usually last twice the expected km's for a Petrol.. the V8 purrs along.
Coming off the highway the other day a passenger was heard to say .'its like comming in to land'.
truly.... pretty much says it all .
Keep reading the forum but don't ignore the hidden costs.
    happy hunting.

I seem to do lots of small trips each day. I think it will get better after doing some longers ones.
