... and smaller! Doubt I'd never get the fridge in lengthwise!

Smaller load area, 5 speed only ATM, no foot rest, foot operated park brake, less supple suspension, 2nd battery is very difficult, monocoque construction and not many accessories available yet are the issues I had with the Jeep.

I test drove a TrailHawk and it was nice and went well I just couldn't get past the above. I think the D4 is a more robust off roader.

I did like the 265 60 18 standard wheels, the on-road performance and the price.

Th new GC is roughly the same size as a RRS, so yes it smaller than a D3/4.

The new 8 speed arrives ina couple of months.

Re Suspension, yes it is tighter (less supple) than a D3/4.

I believe you can already get a second battery kit for the new GC.

Your right there aren't many accessory's being sold here yet for the GC but in 2012 they sold over 8,000 new Grand Cherokee's here in Oz, second in volume to only the Landcruiser, like it or not it won't be long till someone starts to make and sell off road gear for them.

In 2012 Land Rover sold in the Asia South Pacific market which is Australia, New Zealand and Japan combined in total of all models including Discovery's, Defenders, Freelander's and all model Range Rover's just over 9,000 new vehicles. Imagine how many new Disco's they would have sold if they priced them some what competitively?

I'm not saying the GC is perfect or even close, they aren't, but they are exceptional value for what you pay.

Shame LR have decided not to sell new Disco's for anywhere near the same price or even same spec as the new Grand Cherokee.
    Cheers,
    Terry

I agree Terry, I think if you are not going to use it off road so much and only have two people it is great value. I did my research and went to the dealer hoping to be bowled over.
The Jeep came close, however for me the D4 is just that bit better, I'm not brand loyal I just want the best vehicle for my circumstances and I have checked out all the options, I even had a good look at the new Patrol!!
The price of a new 8 speed D4 is too high and when I priced up a base model with the options and accessories I wanted it would have been close to $90K.

I have additional incentive to find connectors for my Jeep GC version of Llams because its air suspension is an option on the 2013 Dodge Ram and is very popular in the USA and Canada.
