Has anyone chucked out the factory boat anchor and put a decent engine in a D3 or D4 yet?
Maybe an Isuzu for instance...

That's a great idea! That way it could be modern and retro at the same time. Looks like a product from here and now, sounds like something developed 50 years ago by Massey Ferguson.
Probably only a conversion for people who have a good discounted price list from their dentist and hearing specialist.
How good are those Deefers.
The one that is in my signature scrambled up the north side of Palm creek on the Old Tele Track three days ago while all the patrols with lifts and lockers had to be winched up,as did the Navaras and low luxes.:D:D
It takes something like that to show all the lookers what is the best off road machine around:D
Those lookers with their Jap things couldn't believe their eyes.........:)
And the Puma is virtually stock, except for a 40mm lift and a set of KM2's.
Nope from what I've been told by some on here County owners are the last of the real 4wdrivers. They all reckon you Puma owners are big girls blouse pretenders with to much money. ...
And for your information it takes a lot of skill and bravery to select the correct mode when driving a D3/4 off road. I mean to say it can get scary if your in Sand mode and you find yourself on that slippery green stuff called grass. Let alone what to do when you come across uneven ground or a concrete road side kerb that one must try to get over.
It's not easy being the owner of or driving the most awarded 4x4 in the world. ...;)
Our Deefer is noisy, slow, rides rough, and not particularly comfortable.
Our D4 is quiet, fast (relatively), rides smooth, comfortable, and although we haven't really tested it out yet, I'm pretty sure it's just as capable off road as the Deefer, maybe even more so.
But which do I prefer driving? The Deefer of course! :D
The only thing mines got over the County is lecky windows,, I don't have ABS with the dual cab, so no TC either,, ;)
