    Cheers mate,

    Kev.
That price was for the belt from a Melb dealer. Fitting of a new belt as part of replacing the oil pump should be no charge.

My wife absolutely loves it...although we've only had it three days, so she hasn't actually driven it yet. But she loved driving the Sport.
As for extended warranty, I'll definitely be getting it for this one. The thought of expensive repairs makes me shudder. I was quoted about $3300 by Allianz the other day. (Who, by the way, also quoted me $2,300 for comprehensive insurance. I went to APIA, who sold it to me for $900. Worth shopping around.)
Oh, I'm not doubting the ability of the car.....I'm doubting the resolve of myself if I owned one.....I wouldn't want to get it dirty and scratched...LOL!!!

Yeah I'm a bit anal when it comes to keeping things perfect. Having just spent several hours washing, clay barring and waxing the beast, I certainly won't be taking bush bashing. But the Gibb is a very wide road:-)

I had a quick chat this morning with LR....needed info to tackle Allianz.

182K and 7 years on the 3.0L timing belts. So Allianz are definitely bunging it on considering there aren't any 7 year old D4s and mine has only clocked 77K.

    Allianz Update

I contacted Meaghan Roulston, who sold me the extended warranty. Unfortunately she doesn't deal with Allianz anymore but she offered to pursue it for me.

Chatted to her Friday arvo ...... LR called me 20 minutes ago...everything associated with the Oil Pump leak/failure is now getting covered.

Meaghan chased heaps of people up this morning, which led to chats with some very senior insurance folks and Bob's Your Uncle....local Allianz office got told to cover everything.

Shouldn't have to have come to this but a good outcome none the less.

That is a good result. But you're right, it shouldn't have come to that. Having said that, I'd rather have the extended warranty than not.

Definitely....I haven't got the full report yet....hopefully tomorrow....but I think I'd have been a K or so out of pocket.

This added to the Turbo replacement a few months ago have paid off the premium already.

    Cheers,

    Kev.

I've just realised that you reported that the timing belt was changed, not the serpentine belt that I "read".

    Two belts I believe.
