Looking at how many kilometers you do I think the extended warranty would only last one year! I recall it was 2 yrs / 50,000k or thereabout for a secondhand vehicle from a dealer.
Clocking some k's up there!
My D4 has just had it's 2nd birthday and has 18,500klms on the clock.
Being the second car I estimate that even after 5 years it will only
have done around 50,000klms and $3995 for extended warranty
is a fair amount of spaghetti...

I bought a 3 year extended warranty for my d2 from holden it cost $1200 and in the last year I went to the dealer and they found $2700 worth of things that needed fixing. So in my case money well spent.
I bought the warranty when we picked up the D4 last month. $3295 with a $400 discount gets me an extra 2 years and 200,000 km. Price goes up to 3995 as you've just found out. Since SWMBO has a hankering to go touring so I figured it was piece of mind.
If you plan on selling the car within a year or two then the extra warranty could help you move it?
I had the Land Rover branded Allianz one for my D3. It turned out to be completely useless. They refused to pay for a Seatbelt retractor, a drive shaft seal, and suspension bushes.
I'll be hanging on to my $4k and putting that towards anything that needs fixing after 3 years. and this time I'm better armed about my consumer rights as well. Just because the car is out of warranty doesn't mean you have to foot the whole bill to replace something that reasonably should have lasted more than 3 years.
Also, if you are going to trade a vehicle with some extended warranty left, make sure you cancel it and get a pro-rata refund. That's the first thing the trading dealer will do with it.
BTW, the commission on the extended warranties are well above 30% which is the only reason the dealer thinks it's a good idea!
Hi Dan, and others.. Watch this space on the Allianz Warranty and Landrover extended program. I currently have a very serious issue being dealt with by the powers that be, which they are in serious breach of multiple clauses in their contract. If they do not address them to satisfaction there is going to be alot of pain, plus the opportunity for others on here that have failed to get the legal requirements in a class action that is backed (written) by dealers and also by evidence from within alliance themselves that they are in direct breach of their agreements. (i have it all!). We are currently giving alliance the opportunity to do the right thing before and if i take it pubic!
Yes at the moment Alliance is something i would avoid as even if they come good, they certainly left me in the lurch and broke all the agreements with me..
Interesting Firefox,is it your transmission?
I am 3000Km and 7 weeks away from from end of warranty and need to make up my mind shortly on extending my warranty. There has been talk previously of another broker who has done a good deal on these warranties. I guess the question is are they worth it and are they honoured in the same way as the factory warranty?
Cheers,
Sean

I've had the warranty side turn a few stupid things down. However the car failed horrifically out at birdsville and Allianz and landrover both failed on every front! The local dealer is trying to sort out the mess and promises.
Ill be able to update everyone in the next couple of days. I'm giving them the opportunity to do the right, correct and legal thing, but I get the feeling they won't because they didn't previously.
I purchased a genuine factory warranty extension just as I sold my D3.
It would be fair to say that the extended warranty paid for itself just in the resale value alone.
The new owner clamed for a new compressor with no problems I believe.

Hi,
You've written Alliance and Allianz, which are two different companies.
I read on this forum that the LR Extended Warranty is a bit of a misnomer and only covers major stuff. I do think it's underwritten by Allianz however.
Allianz also offer another level of cover, if you go to them directly for the same price as the LR brokered cover. This is the one I choose.
It's only been tested once when I had yet another turbo failure....the others were covered under the original warranty. Allianz covered it no questions asked which I though was ridiculous as LR had never properly fixed the original issue.
However, at the end of the day I was happy, no cost or stress to me and got to drive a new Jag for three days.
Hope things work out for you mate.
Cheers,
Kev.
