    ARB Airlockers for D3/D4

    G'day all,
Please pardon my intrusion into the cafe-latte area

You will very shortly be able to get airlockers for your Disco, here's a bit of info from ExPo:
ARB Releases Air Lockers for Discovery 3 and 4 (LR3 and LR4)

Now you'll be able to drive the tuff tracks too

I suspect it'll be great news for those wishing to buy second hand but can't find a car with rear factory locker.

Lattes.....can't stand the stuff. But at the W4 challenge on the weekend a 110 driver was putting one away....maybe you are a bit confused ;-)

I wonder how these will work with TR....I guess the ARB engineers have that sussed.

Old news - some on here (may D3UK) have already had them fitted - expensive though.

OOps - the front locker has been on sale for some time - it seems that they have also done one for the rear which they said they were not going to do.

Now sit back and wait for all the "The [D3/D4/RRS] doesn't need a locker" comments

    or the others:

"A locker will break the drivetrain"
"A locker will not work with the sophisticated electronic systems"

Reminds me of the "cascade" failures which were meant to happen if you locked the CDL in Disco2's and likewise how the ETC was meant to fight against the axle lockers. I don't think anybody has had a problem yet.

Now that they have made a rear locker I would consider one if the price was right but based on the price of the front locker that is not likely.

The rear locker development is definitely worthwhile (as I said months ago) for those that didn't spec the LR locker and want to go a bit harder. Those that want to waste their money on a front locker are of course, free to do so.

Issues with the electronics will likely be only those with the front engaged or those that replace the LR rear locker with an ARB - but I doubt anyone would do the latter.

    Cheers,

    Gordon

Mine doesn't. It came with one as an option. No room for another, unless I leave it in the boot.

No problems Mark you are welcome, but you must remember that if you venture in; you supply the lattes - 2 sugars for me please

More to the point - now I have a rear locker to add to the wish list, although it is last on the list at the moment.
    Cheers

Actually I would be interested to see how a front locker would work in a D3.

Personally I have found with the D1 that the front locker is only really used when your sphincter is all puckered up because your stuck on the side of some hill wishing you were any where else but there.

When you have a moment like that you would be more than happy to pay double for a front locker to drag you out.
    Cheers,
    Terry
