Has been done before - in the late 60s early 70s - worked fine untill you needed the wipers and they just got scratched.

    Ouch!

The last OEM windscreen replacement that I paid for (Sep 12) cost $1712.08!

That also included two 'A' pillar trims and the clips.

THe last windscreen fitted (non OEM) was around $750.00 from memory. Cant find the receipt at the moment.

You can understand why insurers are looking for a non OEM alternative.

    thanks LGM,

    thats helpful info for me.

''The last OEM windscreen. . .'' ''The last non OEM windscreen. . .''

hehe, it sure does sound like some of you guys change you windscreens' often! i think some of you might have had more windscreen replacements than i have had girlfriends.

i'm not sure if that means i should have had more girlfriends or more windscreens

Re OEM or AM screens, the last time I had a screen done the O'Brian's fella said that it had to be OEM as they were the only ones with the heaters & that the Land Rover glass was a lot thicker & heavier than most windscreens.
Would this be right or have things just changed over time?
I also had the rear screen replaced, with tint, with OEM glass.

    If its Cairns....
Last time I ever used "O'Briens" was for a toyota troupie, it leaked till the next time a windscreen was changed. Never used O'Briens since....
Oh it was simply that they never bothered to remove a glass slither which was left... very poor workmanship.
Obriwns i regard as quick and dirty... definately not the best.
