Used D4 HSE or New TDV6

    I am conflicted,

I had my mind set on a second hard 2011-2012 D4, to save on the depreciation drop and found a HSE 40k on the clock asking 85k.

I then went looking at other dealers and they started talking me into a runout or demonstrator. Can get TDV6 for low 80's.

I know nothing about buying cars and I always seem to get ripped off! What should one do? The runout models really do look like good value, however I really want Sat nav and reversing Cameras for safety...

Appreciate the expert advice from the forum.

Me personally, I would go with a new TDV6 with leather seats and electronic diff lock. I always like the idea of a new car warranty. Especially with a LR. It has been a sound investment with my new Defender.

Are you not concerned when it comes to resale though?

I generally find with used vehicles that they don't seem to vary too much in price between spec levels. A vehicle only devalues when you have to sell it. My Defender is worth more to me than what I could sell it for. I have spent over $15000 on extras. I hope my wife lets me keep it when I buy a Disco 4 TDV6.

Personally I would buy a 12 month old HSE.

A HSE spec Disco makes a standard spec D4 look very ordinary, as for warranty spend a couple of grand and get the extended Allianze warranty.

I would hazard a guess that you can get a HSE with low clicks for a lot less than 85k as well if you haggle.

Compare some of the specs of a HSE that a base model D4 doesn't have.

    Rear air
    sat nav
    reverse camera
    captains chairs
    higher spec stereo
    + full power 3.0 litre
    Cheers,
    Terry

I sent you a PM striking. There are good deals out there for a spec'd TDV6. I've got one on its way with 7 seats, leather, tech pack, HK hi line stereo for a pretty great price.

Well Giskard, why not share your new purchase story with everyone. Chances are the dealer, who more than likely doesn't even know there is a forum called Aulro, won't work out who you are.
    Cheers,
    Terry

I was in a similar situation...went the older HSE and love it! Nav, cam, 7 leather seats, sunroof, better sound, lights, 600nm 3.0L etc etc etc. I could be kicking myself down the track but if I was going to spend the cash I did not want to be thinking, I wish I had XYZ.
Horses for courses as they say, either way the disco is an awesome car.

Wasn't sure if it was acceptable to quote prices. my deal was a MY13 TDV6 with the goodies mentioned above. Carpet mats and the rubber load space protector. $81500 drive away.

Missed the SDV6 engine, armrests and xenon lights, but pretty happy with the overall package.
