Had great service from our 2 VW Dealers so far, our first encounter with VW assit was not very pleasant, second time was excellent, I think it was the RACV guy the first time, haven't had any dramas with VW yet.

    Hello All,

I know some of you have the Land Rover Bull Bar already fitted.
I have looked at some photo's on the Web and have a couple of questions.
Is the original front bumper bar intact with the fitted Land Rover Bull Bar?
Are the front wheel arch flares cut to size to fit the Land Rover Bull Bar?

I know some of you have the ECB Bull Bar already fitted.
Are the front wheel arch flares cut to size to fit the ECB Bull Bar?
Is any other part of the car cut to fit the ECB Bull Bar?

    NTB

The wheel arch flare is not cut. From what I can see the bumper bar is removed and the bull bar fitted without any cutting. It sits below the headlight. There is a gap between the bar and the body work that I can put my fingers into comfortably. Tried to take a photo for you but it's no good in the dark. I'll do it in daylight and post it for you.

Here is a link to the web site. Their photos show it well.

    Things to consider...
Most Roo strikes are glancing or corner blows - some bars will flex easier than others at this point and do panel damage.

The units that leave the flare intact run the risk of the bottom of the flare getting caught up offroad, causing it to rip away or be damaged.

To take impact without damaging the vehicle required deflection area - closer to the body the more likely the hit will cause damage.

Tombie, I take your point about the flare possibly getting caught up off road but I must say cosmetically I think it looks better with the flare intact. Certainly something to consider though - I must admit it hadn't crossed my mind at all.
