Take it back & get them to fix it correctly.
Hi all..
D4 2010, with a wonky steering wheel...
I've had the wheels fully aligned at the local tyre specialist, but every time it's done the steering wheel is left off centre.
Any suggestions?
Cheers
Take it back & get them to fix it correctly.
For some reason it seems a lot of tyre places have problems with wheel alignments on 4WD's in general and Land Rovers in particular. They reverse the toe-in, toe-out on Landies (compared to Asian 4WD's) or don't set them up properly before they start (tight tolerance mode). There are a few threads on the forum about it which you can find using the search function at the bottom of the page.

Is the vehicle fading right, and the steering out because you are correcting it, or is the s/wheel actually off centre ? Either way they should fix it.

'tis an easy fix for those that know how to align rack and pinion steering equipped vehicles....Surely they aren't that inert????
Agreed, take it to the dealer and get it done right. Steering angle sensor will need setting afterward as it has an input into stability control programs.

The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈

The suspension needs to be set into a special mode which locks the suspension into place prior to the alignment. This seems to be a task that only dealers can do because when I approached Beaurepaires, who do the wheel alignments for my local LR dealer, they said I had to take it to the dealer first so the suspension could be locked. I get the wheels aligned every 6 months because they seem to get knocked out very of alignment very easily, especially considering we do very little off-road work. This approach has extended my tyre life massively.

I'd be interested to know how much you pay for a 6 monthly alignment. At some point, the cost of multiple alignments eats into the total cost of ownership of the tyres. I'm not saying it's not worth getting them aligned but wouldn't mind knowing the sums.
I'm still running the OEM Wrangler's and are not particularly interested in extending their life, but when I do replace them with something better, regular alignments will be on the cards.

Or you can remove the suspension fuse at the tyre place.
Park car and leave it turned on, pop bonnet, remove the yellow suspension fuse, suspension fault comes up, then let them park it on the aligner. No suspension movement at all.
The first time that would not have it that this was needed, so they agreed to my terms after they aligned it without pulling the fuse. Went around the block and put it on the aligner again...it was out. Then they did it my way, aligned, took it around the block, and put it on again....perfect.
Have done this 6 times now, and no wheel alignment issues at all....much faster away then having it put into tight tolerance mode each time.
