    Remap Is It Worth It?

Hi, I'm considering getting my 2.7TDV6 RRS remapped and want to know from someone who has done it, whether it is worth the money. I don't do much towing, but like the idea of some extra horses and torque. They are claiming about 22% increase in both KW and torque.

Would love to hear from some experiences in the field.

    Thanks Andrew

Had it done on my old 2009 tdv6 by Bruce Davis at Davis performance Landys, definitely quicker off the mark quite noticeably but best result was acceleration at the high end or: overtaking on the freeway, better economy too!

    Here's the question:
    How much are "they" charging
Do you get a remap interface to keep (allowing you to change maps and clear basic error codes)
Is it a generic tune or tailored to your needs?

Who you looking at going with?

I had mine done about 2 years ago. Not sure of claims re power and torque increases but my 0-100kph improved by about 2.5secs.

My map (BAS) is tailored to my needs and I did not go for a KW increase (though this may have happened) but a torque increase at around the 100-110kph area, the speed that you overtake at and the speed that you tow at on highways.

Two years later I really do not notice it as you get used to it - I just remember that overtaking at around 100kph and above, while not slow or wanting had to be well calculated where now it is more deliverate.

No difference in fuel consumption, smoothness or smoke.

While I don't notice it now I think if I went back to the basic map I am sure I would notice that.

I have both maps and can change them at will - takes about 5 minutes and that is finding the gear - but haven't done it in a while.

Well worth while but some suppliers pricing is over the top.

    Quote is $990 from Ritters.

Is the BAS map easy to do and what cost, I believe they are quote similar power increases.

    Thanks Andrew

You probably find that Ritters use BAS software anyway, so will be similar.

I had a special deal as I was doing some trial work for BAS so to get the price you will need to check their website.

A thing to note - if you do not have a third party testbook like Faultmate you need to buy their installation hardware - the actual map is quite cheap. The total price of map and hardware was under $1000 the last time I checked so if you get a BAS map elsewhere other than from BAS make sure you get the hardware as well so you can take it on and off as you need.

If someone is charging around $1000 without the hardware you are being ripped off as the actual map is very cheap.

Is the BAS hardware VIN locked, can person A use their hardware to load a map bought by person B into person B's vehicle?

Also check, many with Autologic just load their upgrades which cannot be customised.

BAS can provide (for a fee) 2 different maps and you can switch.
