Thread: Need to change pads and rotors, any suggestions? D3 V6petrol

I have not heard of the brands you mentioned. There are other posts on the subject.

PBR and DBA make std rotors for the D3. Look for Akebono ceramics, if you want a dust free pad. The brake wear sensors get quite brittle, and will generally have to be replaced. ( they break as you try to remove them ) You will need one front and one rear from memory.

I am sure I posted numbers for these components. Do a search ( Akebono is probably the best option to search for ) and it will come up.

Last time I had my pads changed - went to Akebono. Brilliant! Not a bit of dust. Highly recommended!!

I know a lot of people say they are crap,I would look at slotted/drilled rotors.
I have done this recently on my D2,went with OEM pads(As recomended and suplied by Justin Cooper).
Much improved braking,not that the standards were duds.A mate also went the same way on his D2 after I did mine,he is a city driver where Im a country driver.He loves the improvement in his brakes especially dealing with the tossers on Perths freeways,its a must experience thing!!!!.
I will go this way in the future with ANY vehicle I own that needs new rotors.

Have decided on akebono, but couldn't find where to source them? Or should I just go to Pedders?

If Im correct,Admaril is a Pedders dealer,or works for one.He may be able to help you out.

Repco can also supply them.

Depending on which LR dealer you are using (if that's where you get yours serviced) - they may be prepared to install the Akebono's for you.

I had mine serviced where I bought it in Perth last week. They told me that I would probably be up for a new set of pads next service.

I asked them about fitting Akebono's. They stated that they had never heard of them (looked them up on the intergoogle while I was there and seemed impressed). They said that if I supplied them, they would be happy to install and would be keen to monitor them and see how they compared against what they fit as standard for wear / performance / dust generation etc. Gotta be happy with that.

Part Numbers from Pedders are PEUR1098 (front) and PEUR1099 (rear). Pedders do not supply the wear sensors - use genuine Land Rover ones.

Just got a quote from Pedders. Pads, sensors and mahonia for all 4 corners total is $974. Wow, these things are a bit expensive!
