    Tow bar installer

    Hi Guys,

We are up in the Sunshine Coast and I am looking at getting a tow bar installed in preparation for the next leg of our trip..

I have rung and emailed British Offroad and have still not received a reply..

I waited for 20 minutes to get served at Jamies Touring and still have not had quote from them either!!

Is there anyone else up this way I could get to fit a tow bar and wiring for an Anderson plug?

    Thanks

    Graeme

What vehicle do you have? Because as far as I was aware they all came with a tow bar and you just had to buy the tongue for it. I could be wrong but that's what I understood.

We have a D3 and I left the "Plough" off purposely before we left home figuring if we got ourselves a camper or van I would get a better tow bar such as the Mitchell fitted....seems no one is interested in getting back with a quote!

    Thanks

Ahh apologies there. Yeah your right I have noticed so many businesses these days just have no interest in getting back to you about anything!! In these apparent tough times they should be getting back to you if your asking to buy!

When I did mine, I sourced the mitchell bros hitch myself and installed myself. There are many reports of people doing same but having the install completed at Kmart tyre-auto place or similar.

Its really not hard to do install yourself, other than needing 24mm spanners/sockets and torque wrench.

Thanks Jim...I'll look into that...the only other thing I will need is then to get someone to wire up an Anderson plug.

Mitchell brothers only warrant their hitch if it is installed by a licencesed motor mechanic. This may or may not stand up under consumer law, but if you source yourself you should be able to find an Independant mechanic to install it, shouldn't take too long.

Try MR Automotive in Redcliffe. If they don't do it they will certainly know who does.

For what it's worth Mitchell Brothers state that the fitting kit, i.e. bolts and bushes, are single use only......replacement fitting kit is $110 + $16.95 Australia-wide shipping.
