    Second hand car teething issues.

Hi all, just wanted some clarification on issues that I'm finding on my D3. TDV6/Auto '06 model with <200k on the clock.

Cruise control is intermittent which I've read it to with the clock spring in the steering, correct?

Also related to cruise control is the tacho wobbling between 1500-1700 perhaps but no surge feeling. Is this right?

And finally, a driveline shudder at heavy acceleration generally around 50-60kmh.

Other than that, loving this car. Economical as, easy to drive, powerful overtaking, I just want a fully functioning car is all. Thanks, Ben.

    Ben.
    RE tacho "wobbling"
Not being smart, but have you driven many modern autos???
I think it may be the transmission hasnt locked the torque converter,I would expect those revs are close on lockup speed dependant.
Could be nomal torque converter slip.
Post the speeds its happening and those who steer D3s should be able to say if this is possible.
    ENJOY

Has the trans been serviced ? If not, do that and see. Shudder fix = add Dr Tranny (not what you'd think) goes the common wisdom.

My new D4 seems to lock at those speeds, when unlocked the taco does lift, very hard to pick a downshift too which would lift the tacho.

I did LOTS of reading on here when I was considering a D3.It seems EVERYONE says dump the tranny oil and fit the steel pan.
I will be doing the same to out Territory when it gets a few more Ks(same 6 speed tranny as yours) And later to the D4 when it gets a few ks.
MANY,stated the oil change transformed the gearshift and any harshness issues present.

Oil change and steel pan made my silky smooth gearbox more, er, smooth and silky. The effect wasn't particularly radical, but my box has always been a smooth shifter. The most radical change to my box comes from periodically resetting the "trans ecu adaption" parameter (ie deleting any learnt bad habits so it can relearn some new and interesting bad habits).

That's certainly one approach but my licence can't keep up !

Iidtool permits you to reset (and otherwise muck around with) ecu parameters so that's how I do it You can so this with faultmate too not sure about other tools.

Must look into some sort of Nannycom replacement.
My original Nannycom has been a bloody good bit of gear with our pair of TD5s.

Theres a new nannycom for D3, not sure of coverage etc but might be worth a look ? (ok, I had a look, I approve of their example vehicle in the document - [ame]http://www.blackbox-solutions.com/downloads/vehicle_coverage/CAN_BUS_capabilities.pdf[/ame])

I'm happy with my IIDtool thingo (seems to do more than that one above, cost less and be smaller), the new ones with bluetooth look excellent (I was an early adopter so no BT for me).
