Interesting. I'd like to see BMKal's set up myself then at some future Pims and cucumber sandwiches get together of the Western White D4 Society.

    Aahhh weight !!!

Today I did a dummy load of the D4, filled both tanks with fuel, and added everything I normally carry when touring, 220 watt solar panel included. I then took the D4 and van down to the weigh bridge.

The van is ok but the D4 is 220 kilos over GVM. ( which is about the ball weight of the van ) I will have to put the D4 on Jenny Craig now.

Not sure how I am going to do it yet, but obviously when touring without the van, I am right on the limit, with the van, well over.

Something for you to think on LandyAndy. Even roofracks, awnings and sidesteps add weight. The bullbar is an obvious one. A drawer arrangement is bound to be heavy. ( even before you start filling up the space ) The aux tank is the tipping point.
    D4 2.7litre

I'm not that far from you James - staying in Adelaide Tce near the Hyatt when down in Perth. Work is on Stirling Hwy in Nedlands just up from the Captain Stirling Pub. There's two D4's with the same RWC and fuel tank at work (my boss has just replaced his D3).

My set-up is pretty basic. If you want to see another white D4 better set up for touring, have a look at Brett's.
    Cheers .........

The rear wont have drawers. What I want is basically a seperate compartment for the fridge(so stuff dosent fall behind it etc) and a shelf at fridge height with a fold down barrier. Will also have a false floor to utilise the void where the spair chairs live.

I dont think I will go for a full roof-rack,more likely 3 Rola style bars. The D2 rack was mainly only used to cart fishing rods. The camper trailer is heavy, unsure of the ball weight,BUT at the moment I can JUST lift it.

Although I ordered the winch bar,I doubt I will fit a winch at this stage. Was just easier to have it winch friendly.

Fortunately when travelling there is just the 2 of us these days.

I'm planning a similar thing with my D1. Just a rectangular box with a centre upright. Left of it will be a fridge and to the right storage bxes.

Starting to get a collection of bits here ready to fit out Snow White.
    Awaiting a bullbar
I now have in stock,Engel fridge slide,Fyrlyt spotties,Redarc Tow Pro,Icom 440N uhf and antenna,an optima battery and awaiting a dual battery system/Fyrlyt wiring kit from Traxide(Tims busy time of the year).
Had a good score from the tip the other day,a cargo barrier complete with all its fittings. When I make the fridge box,it will have the top half of the cargo barrier fixed so it can be hinged up and down if need be.
Once I have dealt with LRA re the LED light issue I intend to do the wiring in one hit.Bullbar will happen as soon as I can buy one.

Been messing around in the shed today.
Got the basics of a frame for the fridge etc tacked together.
Just had a fit test, sofar so good.Once its finished welding, tidied up nd painted its off to my Bro to put the plywood where required and carpet on.
I also have a cargo barrier from the tip,it will be cut up and part of it used on the setup.

Wilst up in the city last week I collected my fridge frame,my Bro had put some ply and carpet on it for me as he is a cabinet maker by trade, nearest Bunnings is 150km away so was easiest to handball the job
I painted it yesterday and have started fitting it.

There is a cargo barrier section that bolts on,more pics tommorow when I finish the job.
