Been digging again... (I can now remove the dash to access the touch screen in 5 minutes)

The camera plug in the RH one circled. Thanks to drelectro, to me that looks like a type D Fakra plug. Off ebay searching I go......

Just to show I am completely insane, this car is four months old and I have already done this to it!!!

It is actually confidence inspiring as I now know that if I have a fault "out bush", I might have a hope of exploring to chase a problem....

The Fakra catalogue says that it is a "modified" SMB connector. These are fairly common in telecommunications for coaxial broadband connections. You may be able to pick one up (with out the plastic housing) from the likes of Jaycar...

    Nick.

Yup from that picture it's clear that it's a D type Fakra, super easy to get.

    They are:
    C2820 - Reversing camera input
    C2821 - TV
    C2822 - Video
C2823 - RSE (Rear Seat Entertainment?) CVBS

In my D4, the only plug used is the "pink" jack into C2822. I presume it is for video playback from the port in the glovebox?

I'll be aiming to plug the camera directly into C2820 and hopefully editing the CCF to tell the car it now has a camera.
Can I ask three one questions.
    1. If there is already a pug attached to the rear camera input, where does that lead end?
    2. Would it be possible to connect the camera to the distal end of the lead?
    3. is the MY14 Hi ICE audio the same as the MY12 Harmon Kardon Hi-ICE audio/screen?

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

    Hi Diana.
"kenl" on here did a camera install on his MY11 and his had a 6 pin plug into the back of the unit, that he used two pins of for the camera input. He posted a pic of it in a thread, a search on his user name should find it. I'm not sure when they changed to the fakra type plugs. Mine is a "Meridian" Hi-ICE audio system so maybe you could search to find out when they changed from Harmon Kardon to Meridian systems?

    Cheers,

Well it seems that no one in sleepy Bunbury has so much as heard of a FAKRA connector let alone stock or can order one for me.

Does anyone know or have the means to obtain one, or better still make an adapter to a RCA fitting like this one? I would be happy to pay someone with the knowledge and skills to make an adapter cable for me.

If not, I'll just have to go the ebay route and wait 3-4 weeks for it to turn up....

    SMB connector.

It is not keyed like the FAKRA one, but from what I have read in the FAKRA documentation provided earlier in the forum, this will fit. Maybe check the measurements in the data sheet against the back of your stereo....

    Chris,

    I have one here

I take it you want a female RCA socket on the other end yes?
How long would you like the cable to be?

They changed from H/K audio to Meridian from the MY14 model.
