I have an MY14 and yes you can access the rear camera at any time from one of the touch screen menus. I configured the home screen so that the camera menu was an option on the home screen.

    I have a MY13 D4 HSE.

There is a physical parking sensor button on the dash below the screen (useful for turning the sound off when it drives you nuts ) Except in Park or while driving, this brings up a parking sensor menu screen and at the lower left of the screen is a touch button to activate the rear camera. When the camera is on you can deactivate it by touching the same screen area although there is no button displayed on the screen.

Don't know whether this would be the case with later models but I would assume it may be.

How to access camera from Home Screen

Here is what I have setup on the Home Screen. See the ones circled in red.

When you press the [Cameras] button you can access whatever cameras you have, which is only reversing in my case as per image below (photo a bit blurry). The Settings button here allows you to change the type of lines shown on the camera screen for reversing.

To get this and other useful options on the Home Screen (including the 4x4i screen which is excellent when offroad) you need to go into Setup (button next to clock as per image below circled in red).

Once in the Setup menu, you then press System as per image below.

And then you can customise the Home Screen as per image below. Notice the ones highlighted in orange.

Hope that helps. I'll have to try the suggestion in the previous post too. I didn't know about that one!

    Cheers,

Finally got around to getting the parts!

    Hi all,

I've been distracted with other aspects of life for a while but finally getting back to this. I just got the parts in from Duckworths and will do the job in the next couple of weeks.

The part number for one of the looms was updated so LR071911 replaces LR015458 (something to do with corrosion, Topix SSM72233, although says for pre MY14 only...?) so shopping list now looks like this:

1 x Fakra Z female cable as per above

    1 x LR043493 - camera

    1 x LR071911 (replaces LR015458) - micro switch with camera wiring

    1 x LR021100 - tailgate loom with camera wiring

6 x FYC 500040 - clips for radio / air vents trim (these are a precaution in case any pop off during removal of the trim and vents around the head unit )

Will probably do the front - dismantling the dash and fitting the Fakra cable - and the back -all the other bits - in two separate stages. I'll provide an update soon.

    Looks good David.
I would suggest that before you go too far that you check the plug in the roof at the rear tailgate and confirm that your wiring looms will fit into it. In particular the 4 pin plug at the upper arrow here.

This plug is the power (+&-) and two CANBUS wires that the system needs to know the camera is in operation and plot the bendy reversing lines etc. The LR camera I have does not appear to have a CANBUS feed so I cannot get it to interface with this plug. I hope you have done better.

The FAKRA plug (i.e. video feed) is the other arrow in the pic.

    Have fun. Good luck.

    Red face Strange

    Thanks Chris,

This is something of a mystery to me too. I need to spend a bit more time to match the wiring diagram to the positions of the physical connectors.

My camera, like yours, has only the video feed and the 2 pins in the connector. All the (different part number) versions of the camera I could find also have the same connector.

I had another look at the reversing camera retrofit thread on disco3.co.uk and the successful final installation shows the video with the yellow guide lines AND the photo of the top 4 pin connector shows exactly what I have on the loom - only two wires - green and black. The connector to the camera from the microswitch loom also has only the video cable and two others, presumably power.

Both pics below from same guy

I'm wondering if the head unit is controlling the addition of the yellow guide lines to the video based on selecting reverse, rather than a canbus input from the camera. (Which is NOT reflected by the wiring diagram, hmmm)

All the looms I have look to be exactly the same as the ones shown in that disco3 thread too. I guess I'll know once I put it all together!

    more confused

So just went down to the car park and popped the headlining to look at the connector. Same as yours Chris - 4 wires including canbus pair. hmm More research!

Can't get Topix to take my subscription money at the moment but found this in the MY12 manual I have:

The rear view camera provides additional information to the driver when reversing the vehicle. When reverse gear is selected the camera integrated into the tailgate handle assembly, automatically displays a wide-angle color image of the view from the rear of the vehicle onto the TSD.

The rear view images are overlaid with:

Dashed lines representing the perimeter of the vehicle.

Fixed solid lines representing the vehicle's axle width.

The camera is connected to the vehicle harness by one 3 pin connector for the power, ground and the video co-axial cable.

The image captured by the camera is mirrored to give the driver a true representation of the rear view on the TSD.

NOTE: The lo-line camera has no ?intelligence? and simply transmits a video signal through the coaxial cable.

The display of the camera image is controlled solely by the TSD dependant on reverse gear. The camera system has no diagnostic information available through the Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment.

Wondering if the canbus interface is only required for the full surround parking aid setup or tow assist maybe?

Hopefully can provide more info once I can get back into Topix.

BUGGER, looks like you are in the same position as myself.

I have a LR OEM camera part number LR023365 which looks just like yours. If you google LR023365, it supersedes to LR031813 which supersedes to LR043493, which is the part number for a MY14 that was given to me by a dealer. But it appears that if you order a LR043495 you get a LR023365 which does not fit a MY14?

I wonder if <MY13 has the bendy lines or does the display just plot straight guidelines?

I have changed everything in the CCF to enable the reversing camera. It finds my camera input OK but does not plot any guidelines on the display. I presume it needs the CANBUS camera inputs to make the system work.......

    Cheers,
    Chris
