    D4 MY14 Reversing Camera Install

Confirmed. Camera only on my MY14 and it has bendy lines. With and without trailer attached.

One of the guys on Disco3 just told me this: "Reading the handbooks (online at JLR Topix) it says from 2014MY onwards has moving lines. But 2013 has standard camera."

I only have reverse camera and I have bendy lines.
I think (don't quote me) that there is a setting for the lines in the setup.

edit: which makes sense since I have a 2014

    Cheers mate.

Whilst the MY 13 doesn't have bendy lines, I must say it's very good in my opinion.

My wife has a reversing camera in her C Series Merc and it's pooh compared to the Disco.

I think the Disco's is clear and at the right height which helps keep your situational awareness, which is important as cameras can actually be a distraction. The camera also sits in a spot that gets well illuminated from the reversing lights.

As I said before .... you can safely and confidently reverse up until the bumper is almost touching an obstacle, etc.

    Cheers.

    Post An update from BBS

A quick update on this. BBS have advised that to get the bendy yellow lines going may require a flash update but files not available yet.

    They're investigating...

I'll post an update when I hear anything.

Meanwhile very happy to have a working reversing camera, even if the lines don't bend!

For the sake of completeness, there is one very small thing I missed on the parts list too - you need 2 self tapping screws to fix the camera as they don't come with it. I used 2 of 6g x 16mm if my memory serves me correctly.

Now onto my next project - fitting my ICom IC-450N UHF

I want to put a camera on the back of the van and have been trying to decide if I should use a LR camera and wire a relay down the back to switch the signal if the van is connected.... or buy a fleabay reverse camera with IR etc.... The nice thing about doing this is that that it stays integrated (neat and tidy).... no extra monitors or cables around the dash. It will even have bendy lines that go the wrong way!

Thanks for this tread it has been interesting and helpful (learned about NTSC or PAL etc.).

I'm also going to do an Icom IC-450 install... so very interested in where you are going to put it. I have been wondering if it would fit under the console.
