Dealers can not do it... Their software as supplied by LR is region specific and wont allow it as global closing isn't approved under ADRs...

You can enable it using 3rd party diagnostic gear like Redback said using a Faultmate or Nanocom and editing the CCF.

Why does the Australian Spec say then that Global Closing is standard across all models?

The document you were supplied was probably written in the UK.

The CCF (Car Configuration File) that a dealer has access to, is supplied by LR. It has to conform to ADR's.

ADR's say, no global closing. Hence, the document is wrong, the dealer is right.

Yes, if someone has access to a device to change specific parts of the CCF, then they MAY be able to change it. That wont be the dealer thou.

The way it was explained to me, was that the dealers CCF is downloaded as a whole, and they are unable to just pick & choose which parts they want - to a large extent.

Gordon mentioned on his GOE seminar that the full on Faultmate could change things the dealer cant.He also warned not to mess with the vin number as somebody did and it rendered the vehicle unusable.Even the dealers couldnt fix it and it would have needed to return to the factory to be repaired.
    WAS IT ANYBODY HERE??????

    LOL... not me

I am guessing that the car would have needed a new computer, programmed from the factory with the correct VIN.

Sometimes, a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing...
