I recommend the following for an AT tire:

Goodyear AT Adventurer with Kevlar 255-60-19
#1 Highest Ranked AT in its class by Tire Rack.
I own these and can say they are excellent.



For a MT tire I recommend:
Goodyear DuraTrac - they now make a 255-55-19

IIRC the Cooper LTZ is available but I don't know what they're like.

I have had a very good run with them. Have also used them on a tdv8 RRS in 20" and I think they suit the RRS particularly well being a bit lighter. I would also seriously consider Duratracs now they are available, although may not suit the RRS as well as a Disco? Depends on your usage of course.

Yep I couldn't find that tyre on the Goodyear website. Not that it's always right.

Maybe I should look at 275 55 19s if they are more common.

I am also looking at Perelli ATRs. I read somewhere on here the Cooper Zeon's sidewall was not great in the 19" tyre. Does that apply to their 19" ATs & LTZs? Dura tracks are probably more aggressive than what I need.

If you are running a fully loaded d3/4 or towing I would pass on the Zeons they are simply not strong enough. I have had two let go on me while touring on gravel they were brand new. They are a quiet tyre but I dont think they are really any better than standard tyres. I am watching the duratracs with interest as the data I have suggests they weigh more which I am equating with more strength they are nowhere near an LT but may be enough for most. I personally will be going to 18 inch rims and LT tyres for the touring I do. I had 17 inch LT tyres on old D4 and miss them gave me no trouble and I pounded them.

I have a RR tdv8 with 19" wheels. I was intending on getting 18" GOE rims, but need to keep that money in reserve in case of an expensive repair. It's all going great ATM touch wood. So I'm limited to 19s.

If you want outright grip on tarmac, the Conti's are best, and average on the rough. Their grip has a counter in that they wear fast.

Can't go wrong with the Pirelli as an all rounder and are as quite as the Conti's. They'll grip as good as the Conti in the dry but the Conti has the edge for wet conditions. Pirelli is a heap better on the rough.
