    Thank you for your email.
The design of our dog guards complies with standard ECE R17, and that ASG Group, parent company of Travall and manufacturer of the dog guards, complies with ISO standards ISO9001:2008, ISO14001:2004 and ISO/TS16949: 2009.

You can find more information about this in the following link:

Quality Assurance | ASG Group |

Our dog guard can be used as a barrier but as it is stated on our website please note that it has not been tested to Australian Standard 4034.2:2008.

    I hope this helps.

For more information, please do not hesitate to contact us.
    Kind Regards,
That standard is for attaching objects to the barrier, it does mention this on their website.
    Cheers Baz.

I wonder if it would stop a 95kg great dane from flying through it?

I can try with my 40kg Wolfhound Cross a couple of times in a row? That should make 95kg? :banghead:

I have a copy of the full standard because my work has an access subscription to all Australian Standards. In addition to requirements for attaching objects to the barrier, AS4034 also covers testing requirements so that a barrier can have a rated capacity in kg's.

There are a number of test methods but essentially AS4034 defines how much a barrier can deform or be penetrated under test conditions. Options include a sled test, ram test or a dropped object test. The testing is aiming to represent a deceleration event that is referenced to ADR69, which is for full frontal impacts.

There are a few other aspects also covered, such as how big gaps can be between the barrier and vehicle sides, relationship to child restraints, etc.

So I believe the Trav-All would be likely to meet the requirements of the standard for a relatively low rated capacity (my opinion only). However, I guess the expense for the manufacturer would not be justifiable compared to the potential market in Australia.

I think my 20kg Kelpie won't deform it too much. Or the roll mats and pillows when loaded for camping.

    Cheers,
    Scott

I took the plunge and bought the travall barrier as well.
Purchased Sunday pm and it was on my doorstep by Thursday lunch time. Very impressive indeed!

Installed it this afternoon inbetween the downpours, propably took about 30mins.
Very pleased with the results. No issues with fitting child seat after the install

    How's the Travall travelling?

I'm thinking about getting one of those Travall barriers.

How do people find them? Would they be able to hold a load of camping gear in the rear in the event of a sudden stop?

It all depends on the weight of the load being restrained and the speed of an impact or sudden stop.
The Travall is not compliant with AS4034 but is compliant with ECE R17.
This European standard covers protection of occupants by barriers and sets down testing requirements, which are similar to AS4034.

I'm quite happy to use mine to restrain light gear such as roll mats, pillows, clothing and sleeping bags.
It's well made and very easy to use (I don't leave it fitted all the time).

ECE R17 can be found *<here>* (you need to go to the "17" tab)
And here's a Travall video showing crash testing. It's not an exhaustive technical presentation covering all scenarios but does give an idea.

I had a Milford barrier installed originally and have recently taken it out and installed the Travall barrier. Main reason was the half height convenience, being able to use the full length by dropping the 2nd row seats and the ability to remove and reinstall it quickly and easily. I mainly use it as a dog restraint but believe it will do the job if something flies into it. My main driving is city stuff but I would reinstall the Milford if I was doing a trip with a lot of gear - I think it would be better than the Travall from a safety viewpoint. The reason for that opinion is the size of the holes - much smaller in the Milford so less chance of something with a small diameter passing through the barrier.
