    Begging for electricity

I got the D4 out of the shed yesterday to clean her.
Got the low battery start engine prompt.
NOT HAPPY,it had 2 trips to the city 2 weeks ago and the fridge was only turned on for the trip home each time(2 hours).
I had this problem with the D2(using power whilst not in use) and it really ****ed me off.
Both batteries were reading 12.06V,now on charge.

Yep,a PITA,you would think they would have this sort of stuff sorted by now

Never seen the message on mine, but until i started charging it every couple of weeks, the traxide SC80 was often flashing, voltage on both batteries below 12.00V

The Puma sits for 8weeks and no message, starts first go

    So does the Hiace

In theory, after each daytrip to the city 2 weeks ago both batteries should have been fully charged when I turned the Engel on for the trip home.Im wondering if I should turn it on when I leave home like I used to in the D2,even if it doesnt get used.

How close is your garage to your keys?
I'm thinking as you go near the vehicle it's waking up constantly...

At least 50m Toombie.I dont lock the D4 when its in the shed so possibly a cause????
I have had it on charge for 24hrs,now 12.92V.Will leave the bonnet open and take daily voltage readings to see whats going on.

One common point between both vehicles, the Engel. An way I can check its draw whilst running???? I doubt its a problem, recently had it in the D4 running on freeze for a week whilst in Albany, never saw the low battery warning then.

The service manager at the dealer told me the only time they go fully asleep is when the vehicle is locked up,which,as you probably know, can only be done once all the doors and bonnet is shut.

Don't know if this is a fact or not.

if you want to leave the bonnet up, bridge out the bonnet switch which is easy to do.

    Cheers.
Will monitor the batteries for a week or so as is.Then charge it and keep it locked to see if that helps.

Very difficult to check battery voltages with it locked up,as it wakes up every time it is unlocked, and the voltage drops off immediately, then seems to creep back up slightly.

Suppose it maybe able to be done through the trailer plug,or if you run a lead from one of the batteries temporarily under the vehicle and out to where it is accessible.

Or bridge out the bonnet switch,as said, then keep an eye on the battery voltages at the battery.

    Good luck

As I understand it, the Traxide draws 270mA all the time until the batteries are discharged to 12.00 volts. This is 6.48 Amp/hours per day, so after a week or two the batteries could easily be down to 12.06 volts. I think this set-up is best for cars used regularly.
Traxide is on this site - can you confirm?
