Which hub did you use Ean? There is a range available from $135 to $400.
The Timken ones appear to be all over $300.
My front left has a fair bit of play and will need doing ASAP. Hopefully the extended warranty plays fair this time.
Gday All,
Well done the front wheel hubs and bearings today. pretty simple job, pretty well as the you tube link a few posts back.
Took about 2 hours all up and seemed to drive well with no strange noise's or dash lights.
going to press the studs out the old hubs and use them for the D3 hubs getting made for the camper.
Cheers Ean

I just went middle road, think they $180 each just got them off ebay, only 1 of mine was knackered so I have kept the good one in case and will have a play at the stuffed one and see whats involved in re-bearing it.
Reality is if they need doing again, I will be doing the job so was prepared to try the cheaper end of the scale.
Cheers Ean
Re replacing the front wheel bearings in the housing. This is not an option as they appear to have been forged in. I attacked my with an angle grinder and still could not extract then.
Re the wheel studs. You will need to grind a grove in the bearing housing to get the head of the stud out.

The good news is that Allianz agreed to replace the hub under the extended warranty. The bad news is that Altos didn't have it in stock and I have to wait until next week causing the postponement of my trip to Coffs for the weekend.
It would probably be OK however I didn't want to risk if for a 1000km plus trip. Warranty expires next month so I got a new bonnet switch as well, pity that my Hitachi compressor is still going strong.

Sorry to bring this one up again but I definitely have one very noisy rear wheel bearing !
Am in no position to do it myself and have 2 estimates to replace it, one for 6/7 hours the other for 2.75 hours, both bearings the same price.
Both places said it would not make any difference to get them both done together as they were individual jobs so cost x2.
Cost from $500 to $750 ?????, Per wheel.
Can't find any posts on the rears, plenty on the front bearings.
