The aussie D4s come with the drop hitch as discussed. However you need to supply your own reese style towbar hitch fitting.
It has to be rated at +3500kg,and their are dimensions you need to comply with. The measurements, max drop/max lift/max extension of the hitch are in the owners book.
As others posted ther are those towballs that provide lift, you should get a caravan to match easy, there is more need for a Mitch Hitch for off-road campertrailers that tend to have a higher drawbar.

The LR drophitch can be used with a suitable lug, and your coupling of choice. I use a McHitch auto coupler now. Excellent setup.

You can get a 1 1/2" raised towball off ebay as well if you need extra height.

Probably because the middle one is only rated for 2260 kg..

LR recommend a max distance (centre of tongue pin and centre of ball hole) of 160mm from memory. Might be a smidge less.

I went with the ARC 3500kg 160mm tongue.

LandRover have a length from centre pin to centre towball of 152mm I believe. I also purchased an ARC 160mm tongue from BCF. It was $100 and is rated to 3500kg.

I then turned it upside down and it tows our Coromal caravan perfectly, which on a flat ground is 450mm from ground to top of towball.

I personally couldn't find a towball that met LandRover's ridiculous specifications, however the ARC is only out by 8mm which I can live with.

Remember in the owners manual it says, 'recommended'. I've seen people on this site using 6" risers etc.

You will not need load levelling bars either!

Hey Andy - when I bought my D3 with tow kit, and D4 with tow kit, the drop hitch and tow ball was provided. I suspect some dealers forget to provide them. IMHO, if you paid for the tow hitch - it had better damn well come ready to tow!

    Cheers,
    Rob

    Rob,
The D3 & D4 Tow Tongue/ball/bag etc Is An Accessory.

Some dealers throw it in if they know you are going to tow.

    Cheers

As Sniegy says, they are an extra,I did ask for one, they said no as they had put a free set of matts in the vehicle.I was happy with that, have several different hitches here.

For sure - as I said, I ordered the tow kit. If the OP wants to tow, maybe he should order it as well.
