I just called Ausbrakes and they have confirmed that Akebono's are not available.

They have offered a new product by TNF (who are more well known for rotors), which are also ceramic pads (no brake dust), and at $95 (posted) for a set of front pads. I have now ordered a set to try out and will let you know how it goes. Very good phone service from the team there.

    pads

hi there,my 2 cents worth. I changed my fronts to akebono's from standard as I was getting a lot of dust.I tow a toolbox trailer weekdays and also a caravan at 3.3 tonne. The result is great stopping power and no dust to speak of under normal driving and very little with the van on.No going back for me.I will upgrade my discs to slotted like tombie's when needed.

There does not seem to be any stock of the DBA2096S (Slotted) rotors anywhere in Australia, including from DBA themselves, and the expected time is meant unknown and might be more than a month and a half....

Stock of the non-slotted versions are also extremely low, and ETA is also unknown.

If you're desperate try eBay there's some away sellers that may have stock.

Thanks Tombie - I have messaged all the eBay sellers and called all the places with Google results already. Same story from lots of them- "DBA is only showing 2 (non-slotted) available in Perth...". So I then started asking if they had shelf stock or their own warehouse to save them asking DBA again.

At the moment I am likely to go with slotted TNF rotors for $145ea.

    Ironic isnt it...

Akebono say no front pads for 3.0L

Yet the pads are identical from every measurement I've seen...

I have akebono pads on my 3.0l can't say they are dust free or squeak free though. Low speed noise is there. Rda are a better option for rotors now. I have dba on mine and they are great but are not in stock they machine the slots in to order that's there standard protocol now. Best price is an auto parts store in Gulgong nsw can't remember there name but very cheap.use google. I get on great with the owner of the local brake shop and asked why they have Rda he said they used to move so much dba but they had a cracked up set of slotted and drilled discs and dba refused warranty so they sent there stock back and have been Rda since with no complaint.

Can you advise the part number for the Akebono pads you have on the front of your 3 litre. ( as they don't have a listing even they are aware of )
    D4 2.7litre
