Thread: TDV6 'Base model'. Seat won't go back far enough. Can you get 'Mud Rails' for a D4?

I agree. I am 6'4" and a big guy. Initially I found the seat position uncomfortable but after mucking about it it is fine ( and stored in the presets). I recently drove from Brisbane to Canberra in a day with no issues.

Yeah - I tried a lot of combinations of seat raised and seat-back moved to the rear, and seat fully down with steering wheel up/down/in/out. I think I must be very "high waisted" or something!

When I dropped the car back to the dealer, they put me in a higher spec vehicle (SE?) with electric seats, and that was great. I could drop the back of the seat (which you can do in the TDv6) AND I could lift the front of the seat (which you can't do in a TDv6).

I think it is a cunning plan from the dealer to upsell me an SE instead of the base model. It's only another $15K more.....

I reckon this would be with electric seats though, which don't come on the TDv6.....

Hi Tiddy - can you explain this a bit please? Are you saying the seat rails are common in the Defender and the Discovery? That would surprise me a lot!

It is indeed. My wife is much shorter than me so those presets are very useful

What I was told is with the Defender, you can get a seat rail extension kit, but those rails are the same as used in the D4, so that will give more seat movement in a Defender but there is nothing available through LR offering additional movement in the Discovery.

    OK - got it.

I asked the LR dealer here in Adelaide to chase up seat rail extenders for a Disco, but he found nothing.

Speak to Whiltshire auto trimmers and see what they can do..

Or maybe a special build with base model and electric seat

Don't know if it's feasible but have you thought about an electric seat from a wrecker ?
