I think you mean Troglodytes? 👹 ...Ah Yes well they've always been milk (latte) sippers to my knowledge since time immemorial...and quintessential Bathurst fans too.

Whereas we minimalist design classic loving bearded folk generally prefer espresso doppio. ...to keep our hairy backs luxuriant. 😉

I suggested to GOE that they have distributors for their wheels in Sydney and Melbourne (where 9 million people are within an hour from).

But if GOE did that, the prices would be double - said GOE. So instead of $600 wheel, ie 5x6-$3000 for a 5 wheel set or the recommended 6 wheel seat at $3,600, you'd (we'd) be paying $7,000.

So the reality is that while $7,000 sounds a complete rip-off, that price fits with what GOE wheels would cost if they were retailed.

Now if those wheels were 18" wheels, that would be cool ...

...just because it's 'the retail price' doesn't mean it's not a total rip off! In fact most retail prices have big margins built in so the supposedly 'discounted sale' price is actually the retail price. (And don't get me started on gst!) gst on wholesale, added to gst on freight, added to gst on sale price, added to gst on retail! Talk about compound interest! And are we all about to accept an increase in gst? If we don't question these things where will the rip off end up?

$7000 for 5 wheels is ridiculous by any real world measure. Talk about first world problems!

No wonder it's a limited edition, only a limited number of people would be gullible (or affluenza) enough to buy it!

It would appear you don't have a working understanding of how GST works..

An interesting assumption. Strictly yes it's only the 10% that is remitted and/or claimed back by gst registered business. And prices shouldn't increase at each change of hands to cover the accounting cost of collecting and managing gst all the way up the line... But do you think the end customer only pays 10%? I suggest the gst unofficially increases prices by more like 20% on average over what they would have been without gst.

The whole point of this post is you get a Tech Pack and the Black wheels for free. You still have to stump up for a $91700 for the SE or $102000 for the HSE, well that's what they cost in Townsville anyway. They are only getting white ones. I have been quoted over $90000 for a TDV6 with a lot of options I don't want. The only problem is these limited editions will not have the e-diff. As the dealer said to me, who wants a diff lock with 20" rims. I do. I intend to get GOE 18" as well when I get my D4.

Reality is that tyre businesses place a cost on the money to buy, the shipment to them costs, and also they cost the storage, and the handling ... if the wheels sit there, that costs heaps for them to hold them.

I had though that the GOE should be able to be bought locally ... for lets say 25% more ... but GOE said that sadly he had spent heaps of time trying to organise something, but such stockists would end up doubling the cost from GOE direct.

Have you found out the price on your Ferrari wheel by the way? The one with the dint in it?

Over $15k for one of those, before the Aussie dollar fell. So for just four wheels, that's over $60k.

I sort of had that problem too ... but IMO, with a demo, an extra $20K was a lot for a rear diff lock. End of the day the non-lock will get you as far as most other 4WDs in severe conditions. Heat on the rotors is the main negative issue with the non rear diff lock. A decent set of tyres is worth several diff locks IMO. Its frustrating that for $1,100 you can have a front air locker from ARB, but no rear one on D4s.

All these prices are simply bonkers and testament to the affluenza sweeping this continent, including real estate prices, etc. A brand new Defender still only costs $50,000 and requires no mods to be the most capable vehicle available straight off the showroom floor.

The founding ethos of Land Rover as a pragmatic everyday vehicle clearly no longer exists here.

I simply fail to understand any of this discussion, whereby a $100,000 vehicle still isn't good enough for purpose?

Signing off from this discussion. Best wishes to all,
