Well that's interesting, my VIN is EA71xxxx. Looks like it'd be better to physically check this myself.
    Cheers, Mungus.

Perhaps the factory-fitted revised drain has a larger diameter pipe than the retro-fitted kits. The retro-fitted kit for the 4.4 retains the original drain as well as the new direct drain.

Quite possible Graham. I'll see if I can take a good pic when it's up in the air.
    Cheers, Mungus.

I've fitted heaps of the mod oil drain pipe to the D4 3.0lt and had assumed at some point it would become a factory installed item.

I think its as Graeme has said "The later drain pipe is not smaller and the only reason for not fitting it would be to save on the kit and its fitting cost"

    Hi all

I see the turbo drain pipe fix is for TDV6 vehicles. My SDV6 has a VIN within the range quoted in the PDF. Have had oil drained a few weeks ago from the the manifold before the intercooler. A quart in volume.

The Tech Bull says from VIN AA510178 onwards
    My VIN is SALLAAAF 5DA652XXX

Reason: Am wondering whether to get the kit that is currently for sale.

    Mike

Perhaps at the time of the original TSB the SDV6 badge was not in use and that subsequent updates to the TSB didn't add the SDV6.

The LR specialist mob I bought my 2010 3.0 "TDV6" D4 from did a bunch of major service items readying for market, and that included replacing the turbo drain with a larger one.

It’s not larger but shorter. It feeds into the engine block rather than the sump to reduce back pressure when draining.
