I understand supply and demand and all that business, but really; come on ARB, a two year wait for a slight change to an existing bulbar? What a joke!

Was gong to buy one of their twin compressors too, but at this point in time I'm thinking ARB can get stuffed altogether.

Looks like it might be an OL bar for me.

I happened to be in a well respected ARB reseller on the east coast today, and there was a MY15 tdv6 having been fitted up with the 'old' model ARB deluxe bar, along with ipf spotties and a warn winch. Some mention of extra $$$ to do extra fitting work to make it fit to the newer style chassis mounts.
    Looked the goods though.

Thanks Jim. I am thinking about doing just that, but worried about compliance and all that guff (drilling additional holes etc.) Thinking I could just buy one and fit it and the sensors, cameras etc. myself. I certainly do like the look of the ARB bar a lot more than the new designed OL one for the MY14 onwards models, but haven't seen the new ones in a colour code to see if it blends in with the beautiful face of the D4 yet. Also get that sense the local ARB mob are not interested in Land Rover customers. Probably shouldn't jump to conclusions. I might go in and discuss it with them a bit more.
    Cheers, Mungus.

So, picked up my new winch, Runva 11XP Premium, intending on fitting to the OL bar, but just couldn't bring myself to go ahead with it. Something just didn't feel right about it.
Rang ARB head office again to check on any news and was told vehicle front had been scanned, which should mean a few months away and the guy commented they'd better do something soon as they had a few orders waiting. A week later rang to get clarification on that comment and was told design was complete and given the part number (3432220) to place an order with my local store. I've done just that. This is the ARB Summit bar range suitable for 2014/15 onwards (Discovery on Bonnet) with front sensors, washers and cameras, and winch.
I'm hoping for sometime around July and that it is worth the 2 year wait.
    Cheers, Mungus.

I find all bullbars ugly on the Disco, but at least the new OL one follows the line of the headlights. I couldn't wait for ARB as we leave around Australia in 10 days, so the OL one went on this week. It looks ok in person (certainly has some presence), but you can feel the weight on the front, slightly affecting the driving feel.

Left it black as I intend to remove and sell when we get back. Actually blends in alright with the black sliders, lower door sections, roofrack and very dark tint.

Correction to my previous post, subsequent to a phone conversation with local ARB who rang to tell me my bar was here.

The new Summit Bar does not allow for fitment of cameras
Apparently they don't have anything planned for this as there is not enough demand. Two holes??? Told them I would retrofit myself and then I was informed it would be considered a modification and void warranty, so I said I won't fit them to the bar, I'll fit them to the metal panel underneath. It's on it's way!
    Cheers, Mungus.

What the the purpose of a front camera? I find the big sheet of glass right in front of my face perfectly adequate...

But I'm one of those people that looks at where I'm going before I get there

Ahh, but you can't see below the big sheet of metal covering your engine... I can!

Quoted $2960 to fit bar, refit factory fog lights, park sensors and mount (but not wire) my supplied winch. Add $495 to colour code locally.

They told me the winch base would mount 90 degrees to the front face of the bar.

Just trying to work out if I have to rotate the gearbox to position the lever correctly. The summit bars have a little front access panel to access the gear lever, so I need to position it at the top.

Maybe a stupid question, but do they mean it basically bolts straight down with the base on a horizontal plane?
    Cheers, Mungus.

Not sure about the Disco, but coming from a Grand Cherokee, the camera/radar is for the active cruise control. That is, if it 'sees' you approaching a slower vehicle in your lane the cruise slows your car down, etc.

Later models with ACC maybe, but with my MY14HSE they are just cameras used for junction view. Pretty fisheye view. I've used once for this purpose and it does let you see up and down a road from the very front of your vehicle (as in out past a parked car), but I needed my glasses to get the full benefit and wouldn't solely rely on them. Hoping when remounted below the bar (about same height as where they are now) they will be put to better use for seeing over drop offs or crests etc...
    Cheers, Mungus.
