Time to bite the bullt and get rid of the racing slicks. Also replace the lower control arms.

Booked in to HoR (House of Rover) here in Brisbane for control arms and Jax for tyres.
Getting Nexan N'fera RU5 255/60 R18 112V
Much cheaper than the Pirelli.

Just a suggestion .................
If you have to replace the brake pads and rotors (they generally cannot be machined) - try a set of Akebono pads (Pedders are Australian distributor).
I replaced the original pads with Akebono's (and fitted new genuine rotors at the same time) on all four wheels. Have been very impressed with them. They were installed by my LR dealer in Perth where I bought the vehicle (I supplied the pads) and they have been monitoring them for wear since then - they are also very impressed with the wear rate.
Braking efficiency seems to be the same as the originals. Wear rate looks like being significantly better than the originals ................. and there is no more black brake dust on the wheel rims.
I have a D4 with the 2.7 litre diesel, so the same brakes as yours. Unfortunately, you can't get the Akebono's for all 4 wheels for the later 3.0 litre diesels.
We're going to be fitting Akebono's to the young bloke's Amarok when his pads are due for replacement - the brake dust issue is even worse on the VW than it was on my Disco.
Cheers .........

I need some new rear discs and pads soon.
In preparation, I got some prices from various people. For the Akebono pads Repco was cheaper than Pedders. And if you have the time, you might be able to get a car club discount at Repco as well.
Well what a drama!
Brakes all done, rotors were able to be machined and have new pads all round, no idea what type presume LR.
Lower control arms are now replaced but that had an issue with sized thread on the hub nut and required a new passenger outer CV joint. That caused a days delay.
Pick up the car late yesterday and turn the steering wheel to feel a solid knock, thought I will drive it for a bit to see. It did feel odd and the front drivers side wheel felt like it was wobbling and occasional knock/thump back into drive train through the middle of the cab.
Tried to ring but they had closed so drove home carefully and took it back this morning. Turns out one of the arms, not sure which is sloppy but also the inner CV joint is binding then releasing causing the knock and thump through drive train.
Not sure if these things are prone to fail when pulled apart or they are just shoddy at their job?
So no D3 till Tuesday next week and more expense for the CV joint and the arm.
Any thoughts on all of this? Costing me a small fortune so far for what should be a simple control arm replacement.
Not mechanically minded enough to help sorry Peter.
The only experience I have had is a new steering rack and replaced lower control arm bushes at the same time a few months ago. That was all good and no problems since.
Cheers, Dale
