I can't be sure from this if you don't need the internal lights on, but a tip I got from Gordon's book is that if you press the middle switch in the front interior light for 5 secs until it flashes that will stop the lights all coming on. Another press for 5 secs will bring them back to normal operation.

I'm in the same situation and have the same Traxide etc setup so I always do this when we're camping. I also put a strip led with a switch on my fridge cage setup that we can turn on and off as we need to see in the cargo area.

The Owner's Manual in my D3 tells me:

"The interior lamps can be switched on individually by pressing the switch adjacent to the lamp required.
It is possible to de-activate the courtesy lamps automatic mode by pressing the centre switch.
The message INTERIOR LIGHTS OFF will flash in the message centre.
To switch the lamps off without disabling automatic mode briefly press the centre switch.
To enable automatic mode press the front centre switch for more than three seconds. The message INTERIOR LIGHTS AUTOMATIC will flash in the message centre."

This and the key access in the passenger's door are the only thing the previous owner showed me when I bought it.

That's good to know. I knew pressing the centre switch turned them all off, but as soon as someone shuts and then opens a door thy all come back on again. I didn't know the 5 second disable bit. That's very useful.

The 5 second bit only works with the lights - not the said fellow campers...

Only difference is, I changed the reading lights to red, so that at night, they don't ruin my night vision while driving. If I need a white light, I have the centre lights.

Oh, and the puddle lamps in the bottom of my doors project the Land Rover logo.

I am curious thou, as to why you are concerned about saving power? The internal lights time out, so even if you leave a door open, it wont drain the battery.

Yes - I've also recently changed all of my interior lights to LED, including all of the map / reading lights to red LED.

One day, I might also be able to tell people that my puddle lights project the LR logo too .........................

For those with red LEDs, are they still brighter than factory bulbs?

Yes - definitely. Can read maps / books etc quite easily with them on, but without affecting the driver's forward night vision.

Did mine some time ago, from LED4U (via DISCO4); his are good, not the bluer lights from China I also got.

I didn't bother with the glove box as it's apparently quite fiddly to get to. I'm not sure, but I think my puddle lights are already LED, as they are bluer than normal bulbs.
