At least you got a nice easy one Andy!
Was having a warning lamp and error message "Restricted Performance" on the dash. Iidtool said the fault was a PCM P2264. "Water in Fuel Sensor".
1. Removed the gearbox cover.
2. Removed the metal cover in front of the diesel fuel filter.
3. Undid the yellow screw from the bottom of the fuel filter.
4. Turned on ignition. (Turned on fuel pump. )
5. A few drops of oily water came out of filter.
6. Turned off ignition.
7. Replaced screw and covers.
So far so good, no more error messages or faults in computer.
FYI. Andy.
At least you got a nice easy one Andy!
Was the yellow screw difficult to undo?

Ex '77 RRC 2 door. Long gone but not forgotten.
Not too tight. Got it off with my fingers. I had replaced the fuel filter about 20k ago.
I had Restricted Performance with the same code in my D4 a little while back.
Started off with checking for water in the fuel.
Then replaced the fuel filter,
Then replaced the fuel sensor,
Alert still came up.
Ended up needing to replace the fuel sensor housing - some kind of electrical issue.
Alert has never come back.
Thanks bbb.
The alarm came back and I've bought a new fuel filter.
Feels like I'm on a road you have travelled.
The sensor housing? Is that the black plastic thing that the fuel filter screws into?
Tried cleaning the sensor????
We get the fault on earthmoving gear too.The spannerman just sprays the sensor with CRC or similar if there is no water in the trap, usually fixes it.

With a simple issue like that, wouldn't you think a message on the dash readout would be the go,particularly for remote area travel.
Many vehicles have an orange light on the dash to indicate water in fuel.
My D4 (with updated dash software from the IID Tool) comes up with "Water in fuel" warning, then press OK to acknowledge, then the orange triangle remains, but no restricted performance yet - Whenever I go through a deep puddle and some water gets up there it throws this message - I really need to get under there and fix that!
