There's a couple of good threads on this already.
Most people use a remote mount unit with all controls on the mic for a neat install. GME and Icom seem to be the most popular brands.
Here's a couple of threads for a start:

GME TX series with all the controls on the mic. Mic is mounted on a Proclip no screw or glue mount and the main box is hidden under the plastic trim to the left of your foot in the footwell.

Pretty much exactly as I have installed mine, except for that I bought a Uniden unit, also with all controls and extension speaker in the mic.
    Cheers .........

I used 3M Command Strip in the same location as Scott and it eventually failed.
I assumed it incorporated the good quality 3M adhesive but am less sure now.
My next plan is 3M VHB tape that seems to be the best but am also wondering which product Scott and others may have used.

    Cheers,

I used the 3M "VHB" tape but cleaned the surface with isoproponol first, and it has not failed, even up in the Kimberly with all the corrugations and heat.
    Cheers
    Scott.

Yes, I wish there was an extension speaker in the mic for mine because it is hearable but definitely limited in volume by the speaker, being buried in the footwell.
