Anyone got any idea on how to keep radio on for longer than 10 mins without engine on?

From what I've read, it can't be done. All I do is push the button again and it will run for another 10 minutes - but the only time I do this is if I'm sitting in the car waiting for SWMBO at the shops / medical appointments etc.
I never use the radio / stereo to provide music when outside of / working on the vehicle etc. I have read that leaving the radio on for prolonged periods can quickly drain the battery because of the number of other systems which remain powered at the same time.

SubscriberI often have to sit around waiting to collect kids etc and like to listen to radio.
Its a pain in the butt.
It would take a long time to drain the battery, surely, hours!

Ye I agree. Also I have a dual battery so no chance of flattening the battery. Wish it could be reprogrammed.

SupporterYes - switch the ignition to accessories and the radio will stay on if the radio is actually switched on.

SubscriberDon't forget (if you have the meridian or similar system) you have a 385w amplifier, 11 speakers and a semi large LCD screen to power which I think would draw a lot of juice if turned up. Plus all the other bits that are on. Yes it's a PITA though lol

SubscriberPush the button without your foot on the brake, although that's not really accessories but ignition on. I wouldn't do this though.

SubscriberThere are posts about this in other threads but difficult to find through the Search function, so here is a summary from what I recall;
Radio can be turned on without accessories simply by pushing the radio On/Off button to the left of the analogue clock.
Radio will turn off (without engine running) after 10 minutes, because the entertainment unit is also a Gateway module for Can Bus communications to other ECU's and as such draws a considerable amount of power on top of what a normal car stereo system would.
This really annoyed me as I love music and the stereo system; so for now when camping (other than continually turning the stereo back on... which will most likely result in a 'low battery' warning) is use a separate stereo system like Bluetooth speaker which may be connected to a USB port for charging.
I will be investigating further though on how to bypass or at least extend the timing for this safety feature when I get the Traxide DBS installed and having Solar charging whilst camping; although, most likely not possible.
