2013 D4 with an ARB bar. Worth mentioning I was hoping to have the DRL’s permanently on but sparky said they needed to be wired up to park lights. The front fog light button then activates the fogs only. Not a big deal though.

What do you mean by “permanently on” and “wired to park lights”?

Can you post a pic of the wiring instructions?

DRLs are supposed to only operate with engine running and lights off - when you switch your lights come on then the DRLS turn off. OEM fits may be a variation - eg DRLs on with lights off etc and when you turn your lights on the DRLs dim to become your parkers.

Remember DRLs are not supposed to be used in conjunction with your headlights.

I know. But I also know these lights (the genuine ones at least) and know they can be set to off or dim when headlights come on..

I'm still fighting with my '06 D3 to have DRL's.
I've fitted 20W led's in the park lights, and they seem as bright as hell, and I've just fitted lower "wattage" leds (30W) to the fog lights to replace the 55W QI globes.

I never drive in fog, and never use them as fog lights, so I'm hoping they might suffice.
But they still have to be manually turned on and off, and there is the questionable legality of running with the fog lights on in non fog conditions.
I'm sure that officer plod won't know the difference between 30W leds and 55W QI lights :<((

No pic of the wiring I'm afraid, there were no instructions. Let my sparky do it as he saw fit.

The DRL's turn on when in park only. The fog lights turn on with the standard button.

    Hope that helps.

Here are a couple of not very good pics to show the 20W led park light globes, and the 30W led foglight globes.
The 20w park lights really have some punch and I don't think there are any legal issues with them.
The 30W fogs are bright enough, but a plod who doesn't know Adam from Eve could ping me with them on.
I'll try running with the 20W parkers for a while.
Only real issue is remembering to turn them on and off.

I’m pretty sure there are legal issues as I’m pretty sure a park light is specified to be 5W in the standards, but in reality, no one will care.

They are not DRLs just parkers with brighter globes and the fogs are still fogs just with lower rating globes.

If you have to turn the parkers on and off - why not just run with headlights? Not sure what you are trying to achieve with your setup - just turn the headlights on or get proper DRLs.
