    Safari snorkel for D4

Hi, I' m off to the Kimberley this year and was considering putting a safari snorkel on my D4. I'm wondering how much additional cabin noise is generated by the snorkel? The D4 has great insulation from noise but is this affected by the snorkel?

If you put it on for wading depth, dont bother. It will keep the dust out of your filter, but you could save the expense and loss of resale by maintaing your filter more often.

Not sure how much of a loss of resale you're going to have from fitting a snorkel... If you're kitting out the rest of the vehicle with 4x4 accessories I'm going to say zero...

I would imagine just the fact it's been anywhere near a dusty road would put many metro buyers off not just the sight of a RAI .....mustn't say snorkel these days. If the vehicle has other offroading equipment on why would that make a difference? Surely it's better to keep as much dust out as possible in the first place rather than attempt cleaning especially on a long trip where many of our roads aren't sealed.

Dave, to directly answer your question - I found the snorkel did make a significant increase to on road noise....

Yep they're noisy...I wouldn't say it's annoying with the window up though...

    Fresh Air

Had the Snorkel / raised intake (Safari) fitted as soon as I bought my D4 in 2011 certainly keeps the filter clean when on dirt roads or off the beaten track. My 2 previous Discos had a snorkel fitted.......would not be without one. It does add a bit of wind noise but as Russrobe says but once the window is up it is not really noticeable.

Yes there is a little extra noise with the snorkel, but not particularly with window up. With window down at cruising speeds there is lots of other noise as well so again not particularly noticeable

I'll be fitting an RAI soon and the extra noise generated won't bother me or the Cook..... mainly because she doesn't like me driving with the window down as her hair gets blown about a bit.....

Can they be removed at a later date with no damage to the vehicle?
