    Good brake discs and pads

What brake discs and pads are people using/recommending? OEM from the uk are cost prohibitive with postage: are Bosch any good?
    cheers

I ordered the TRW kits for front and rear from Advance Factors and have been happy with them so far, but only time will tell.

Trick is to order in bulk so to get as much as possible in the parcel, it doesn't seem to add much to the shipping by ordering a few extra filters and hoses that you will need later.

I have fitted Bremtec Euroline to the rear (pads and rotors). Bit early to offer an opinion on life etc.
Have read some good feedback but not on this forum.

Am getting a very slight squeal only when coming to a halt from crawl speed with very light brake application.
But I did have the same noise before fitting the Bremtec gear.
Perhaps it is glazing, although I did follow the bedding-in procedure (10 medium-hard stops from 60kph down to 10kph with time gap between).

A bit OT, but when brakes squeal, is there a tried method of fixing? You mention bedding in Scott - the brakes have been on for around 5,000km now, so will have had the medium-hard brake applied a few times in that period!

Mine aren't terrible, though do I do sound like I'm pulling up in a beaten up Datsun 180b most of the time...

Brake squeal can usually be cured by putting brake ceramic lubricant on the interfaces between the pad backing and the caliper. Lubricate the top and bottom tabs which lock the pad into the slide, lubricate the piston to pad backing, lubricate between any shims etc.

Alternatively there are some flexible brake adhesives for the piston to shim interface that stop the vibration by reducing movement. That can also work. It's red in colour typically.

    Thank you for this tip.
It worked a treat, no more squeal.
