Has anyone put slotted and cross drilled rotors on their D3? I need to do pads soon and was thinking of doing this at the same time. Only because it will be constantly towing. I was going for slotted rotors and some heavy duty pads. But does anyone have better ideas for towing?

I have akebono pads front and back on mine, almost no dust which is great.
They definitely don’t brake as well as the original pads, noticeable difference the first drive but you adjust your driving style to match very quickly.
I dont tow but I do wonder whether they would be too soft for heavy towing?
So, firstly, if they don’t brake as well then their CoF is lower (at general usage temperature), which generally translates into being harder. That’s borne out in the life people are seeing out of them. Given that, they’d be fine for towing. Remember that the trailers brakes should do a lot of the work for itself.Quote:

Pads on mine are almost shot,so thinking what to do.
The only time I have really noticed much difference is on extremely steep rock steps. You have to press harder but that could be down to the pads being colder.

Akebono pads work brilliantly. Slightly more force (ever so slightly) for the first brake run of the day and then no issues...

I always respect tombie’s opinion in these forums however my experience is different.
I find them softer on every press, they still brake fine but you definitely have to push harder.
would I buy them again? Probably, because it’s only marginal and you just adapt.
