Well, I can add my name to this list as of this evening. Picked up a 2006 SE V8. Only 146k on the clock. Lovely to drive. Nice burble. Never had a V8 before so thought it was time.

A question, though. How is the average fuel consumption on the dash calculated? When I picked it up, it was showing 18L/100km, which was a little scary. I drove it from Brisbane to the Sunny Coast, about 90km & mostly highway, and it had dropped to 16.2L/100km in that time, which is a little nicer. Is it over the last 100km, or something similar?

I find the best solution to showing high fuel consumption on the dash is to change the readout option to odometer, or off.

Fill up when empty, and enjoy it :-)

If I was worried about high fuel consumption, I wouldn't have bought a V8

Anyway, another short run this morning and it's down to 15.8! Previous owner must have had a lead foot.

LOL I’ve been driving mine in Sydney traffic the last month, it’s showing 20.5L. I knew what I was in for in terms of mileage but it should get better when we go on road trips which is the primary reason we got it.

My V6 Petrol is similar to the V8 - 20's around the city with city driving, but down to 12's and 13's on nice country runs at 100- 110 kph.
I didn't buy mine for the fuel economy!

Reset the counter when I filled up yesterday, and had it as low as 14.2L/100km this morning. My TD5 wasn't that good at times.

And as perhaps another record, after a decent test drive and a mechanical inspection, got my first warning light on the drive home after picking it up - Reduced Engine Performance.

So less than 36 hours after purchasing it, I've got the tools out, and I've given a very dirty MAF and Throttle Body a good solid clean (both very dirty and gunked up), and now I'm off to do some low speed, at idle, cruising in the black V8 SUV to see if the error comes back. I just hope I don't get arrested.
