    Hi Miffy

    If I had my time again I would change the way my car is set up. I have an Outback Accessories RWC and it's a great bit of gear but it's (and all others are the same) a pain to have to open it when you need access to the rear. I take it off unless I'm heading bush and drive without a spare.

    Ideally I would have put on a platform rack so the wheel (or wheels) would go up there leaving the back free. It all depends on what you want to do? Why are you removing it? Is it to put a long rang tank in, otherwise there is no reason to shift it?

    Hi Miffy,
    also if you don't mind, I'd like to ask (instead of starting another thread for a relevant topic);
    Does anyone know where I can get the under guards for the D3/D4 rear bumper? The guars I am referring to are like aluminium winglets which guard the bumper and mufflers.

    I've search Discovery 3/ Discovery 4/LR3
    - under guard
    - rear bumper guard
    - spare wheel guard etc etc

    Cheers in advance to my saviour

    Ben from APT is considering a rear protection plate but that could be some time before anything gets to production. I have seen an Italian version that looks very heavy but sadly can't remember the company name. Kept a photo but nothing else.

    Wow, when you’ve got money burning a hole in your pocket, spend a tonne of cash to protect mufflers?

    From memory, this protection and a rijidij rear wheel carrier are far lighter than the Kaymar bar option.
    Yes they are also significantly different.

    I am looking for rear protection and this may be a substitute/competition for the Kaymar bar.

    Scott. that's the ones I am looking for. Now I just have to find the manufacturer and evaluate price, FFP, weight and freight. Cheers

    Very expensive from memory. Shipping large heavy stuff is a killer, plus exchange rate. Not worth it was my thinking.

    Maybe Brown Davis or similar may make it for you? BD made bash plates for motor and transmission of my previous car and as it was the "1st" I got only charged for the materials. Enough interest happy to take further as I know people at BD well.
