Get it to a trans specialist i suspect that the torque converter is to blame...
I’m getting a vibration through what I think is the gearbox at about 1500rpm under normal acceleration when doing about 50-60 and just rolling on the throttle in top gear.
Have had it at dealer 3 times to check and they can’t find anything and won’t cover it under warranty, but they acknowledge the vibration.
Has anyone else had this? Is it just normal?(my first disco)
SDV6 with 140k, haven’t done gearbox service yet, but dealer topped it up with a litre of oil last time.

The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈
Mine started doing the same thing but at around 1800-2000rpm and only under a light load. Driving in sports mode makes it much better due to downshifting earlier. Mine is booked into the mechanics this week where it will get a transmission service, new filter etc. Quite common on the ZF gearboxes but fingers crossed its nothing to serious that will mean big$$$
Yep pretty similar to mine, it’s that 1500-1800 rpm range, only under light load.
Have noted when I flick it to sport mode it stops straight away. Which is why dealer suspected torque converter...but they still won’t agree to cover it under warranty until they have pulled it out of the car and inspected. Booked in this week as well, so see what I get.
Mine, is a 2011 SDV6 and has done this since new, if it is the same sound/vibration.
The most plausible explanation I have read is something to do with resonance in the exhaust, now at 200+k I still get it and no driveline dramas so far, touch wood.
Did anyone follow up with a dealer / trans mechanic and care to share the advice? I have the same problem on my 08 D3 TDV6. Thanks
Ryan
I recently replaced my front wheel bearings, and now the sound is gone. I'm sure it's not that simple but for me it seems to be the case.
torque convertor shudder
needs megaflush or about 4 drains / refils and couple of tubes of Dr tranny
possibly mechatronics seals as well.
At 140 thou TC and the box itself should still be ok though clutch packs may have some buring due to the very old fluid.
just did all of this on my D3 with a 6HP26. Easy enough to do.
So mine went in and had the plastic pan replaced with a metal one, new filter and oil change. Seemed ok for a few days then the shudder got worse on light throttle, like going over a cattle grate.
Anyway, bought a tube of Lubegard Shudderstop from Repco, costing $10 and though I've got nothing to loose. So I removed the upper transmission cooling hose from the radiator, connected a 300mm long piece of hose to the radiator nipple and added the Shudderstop. Re-fitted the cooler hose and went for a drive. Long story short, the sudder has completely gone. Drove an hour on the highway picking up the kids and all the places it would normally shudder was smooth as butter.
Next transmission oil change is in another 40,000 km so will see how it goes.
