    Question Parking Brake Latching Failure

On my way from Darwin to Cairns after a quick roadside stop, I have fault code C1A53-68(2), which is Electronic parking brake latching failure, emergency release has been activated - Algorithm based failure. IID Tool won’t clear it, Townsville dealer Scan tool won’t clear it even after emergency release reset procedure, so i’m stuck with a flashing park brake indicator and fault, even a hard reset won’t clear, until I get back to Darwin and get it fixed. Probably another cable or clip they didn’t refit properly after a body off job!

Should i I manually activate the emergency release anyway so it is at least mechanically released, just in case the algorithm fault causes it to come on whilst travelling along the highway at speed?

Very good service received from Tony Ireland Landrover in Townsville too by the way.
    Cheers, Mungus.

You could try applying the park brake which is the procedure to re-connect after an emergency release. However it might be safer not to touch the switch in case the module jams unless the suspension has lowered due to the ABS-reported fault.

Yeah cheers Graeme. Dealer tried that procedure and I have a few times, pull up twice and hold for 20, but no go. Nothing else wrong with the vehicle and park brake actually engages when the held up for 2 seconds, but releases again. When I shut her down, you can hear the brake motor cycling a few times before a final loudish clunk when it releases.
    Cheers, Mungus.

Perhaps 1 side cable isn't tightening, triggering the plausibility error.

Just to close this out. EPB Module is faulty and being replaced; when it gets here in 7 to 10 days. Nothing else wrong apparently.
    Cheers, Mungus.

So what will the replacement be costing you? Mine was done under warranty. Also a MY14 but still in warranty at the time.

Also under warranty Mike. Due to a big issue at one week of age, LRA gifted me the extra two years as a confidence booster.
    Cheers, Mungus.

I had my module replaced under warranty along with the brake drums. What a crap thing it is. I never use the drive through thing and it still craps itself. The next time this bloody awful piece of garbage design gives me a problem I'm buying a Tojo....... but of course they also have their problems but at least in remote towns they'll fix them.
