I've just fitted the all terrain plus on the D5. See here Tyres for Disco 5

Interesting comments on the old ATR in this thread. I have had Scorpion ATRs on my D3 and two D4's and found them a great tyre. Never experienced a loss of grip that I can remember. Having said that I never waited until they were worn out to replacement them (or any other tyre). 50-60k is what I remember getting out of them.

I have had these tyres on my D4 for approx 15,000km and they appear to be wearing okay. They are 265/65/17

I knew I was getting close to replacing the previous set when I had a tyre incident on the highway at 4pm on a Friday afternoon before a long weekend. This forced my hand. The Pirelli's were the only tyre they had available in the size I wanted so I went with them.

So far they have been fairly quiet and comfortable. I have only done some gravel road k's in that time and they seemed okay. No real 4WD tracks to give a viewpoint

My gut feeling is that I liked the D697's that I used on my 18's previously but I don't really have anything to base that on. Really, no complaints.

Yeah Scott, the AT+ are on the LR standard 19s.

I've still got 285/60/18 LTZs at about 60%+ tread on the GOEs.

I contemplated a more road orientated tyre for my daily drive but prefer to have a tyre with a bit of tread and some integral strength because sometimes you find yourself on forestry tracks or dirt roads whilst on day trips etc .... and the occasional gutter jump .... LOL!!! I don't want road noise though. One often comes with the other unfortunately.

I was impressed by the good qualities of the ATR and Graeme got me on to the fact that the AT+ is claiming to still be quiet and smooth but has addressed the flaws....so I went for it.

Drove most of the way to the city today ... the steering is so direct now. :-)

Be good to get an update after awhile. I'll need to replace the original tyres on the 19s at some stage.

These replaced Goodyear Efficientgrips (or some name like that).
They are quieter - (I can hear more wind noise from the roof rack!!!) and definately better steering.
I have not done a front wheel alignment yet as I'm putting new lower control arms on in 10 days so did not waste the money.

Your rims appear to be 18" and if so, did you fit 255/60 or 265/60? 255/60 are XL with a slightly higher load rating than the more generally popular 265/60.

I ended up with 255/60's on the 18" rims.

It's a head scratcher Mark. There have been lots of reports of no issues on the ATRs but I thought mine became skitchy after only about 30% wear...mainly on tight turns. There have also been quite a few reports of scary incidents. Didn't you tell me years ago that you had a bad aquaplane incident at speed whilst towing? Maybe got that confused with another forum member?

My aquaplane was out of the box … it was potentially lethal.

My OEM supplied Wranglers were just about worn to the legal limit when I changed them to the AT+ and yet they stuck on with no issue... even during all the massive downpours we've had in Brissy lately.

Not me. Never towed anything bigger than a Bunnings loan trailer.
