If you decide to substitute nuts/bolts for different spec ones, or modify a bar designed for a different vehicle, then there is a possibility the airbags could trigger when not required or not be triggered when they are required.

Companies like ARB, OL, TJM test their bars to ensure correct operation of the vehicle airbags.

So if you fit an ARB D3 bullbar to a D3 using the supplied hardware/nuts/bolts and fit it in accordance to the ARB fitting instructions you’ll have no issues.

Say the correct bolt is a 10.9 and you fit a 4.6, the lower grade bolt could shear affecting the way the vehicle senses the crash impact, possibly altering when the airbags are triggered. The same could apply if the incorrect diameter bolts are fitted.

The lines of ARB, OL, TJM etc specify the bolt sizes and strengths for a reason.
